Sloads in TESVI?

Post » Mon Apr 13, 2015 2:58 pm

As far as I gather from reading around a bit: Bethesda trademarked the name Oblivion in 2002, when Morrowind was released; they trademarked "Skyrim" in 2006, when Oblivion was released; then they trademarked the name "Redguard" once Skyrim was released in 2011. Assuming from that piece of information that the next TES will indeed be called Redguard, can we expect to finally see the extremely cool creatures that are Sloads in the main game series? Furthermore, seeing as the Sloads are known to be the most proficient of all necromancers, and that they worship the "King of Worms", could we see the return of Mannimarco (whose demise in Oblivion was honestly very underwhelming for a character with such backstory and historical importance)? Hey, if the Sloads are as powerful as they appear to be in lore, maybe reviving one or two Dwemers or Snow Elves (from before they became eyeless cave-dwellers) isn't too far-fetched either. Do people concur that this would be awesome?

Of course I realize that my speculations are a bit too dreamy to be very realistic.

the next TES won't be called Redguard

they simply renewed the Trademark because of a much older (and very fun game) title known as "The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard" that came out before Morrowind..

It is common practice to renew trademarks on Older games you made even if you never plan to touch it again

Yeah, there's already a game called Redguard. They were primarily just renewing (The name having already been trademarked previously) and protecting the name.

I know, I have played that game; hence why I thought Redguard = Sloads. Sure, they released a similarly named game before, but it wasn't a part of the main series. Of course, even the name is just speculation, but I wouldn't exclude the possibility.

Redguard was trademarked because they originally intended on including it with the Anthology set. I believe Pete Hines verified that somewhere. But that it never happened in the end, so who knows? We might see an updated version at some point

wait, Redguard was going to be in the Anthology set? damn, was on the fence if i was going to get it or not, but I certainly would have if Redguard was in it.. due to "Circumstances", my copy of Redguard is no longer playable..

ahh well, maybe someday it will appear on GoG, or they will release it for free like they did for Arena and Daggerfall..

I see. Guess that actually does exclude the possibility of TES6 being called Redguard. But hey, I can still dream about Sloads finally debuting in the main game series xD
