800+ hours, finally playing an Argonian!

Post » Fri Apr 17, 2015 3:59 pm

As stated, I've finally shaken off my blinders and am playing an Argonian. I looked at some of the builds on the Skyrim Blog, (Shadowscale especially) but decided on creating something of my own. I'm going with a dual wield stealth based build, but will be able (hopefully) to hold his own in open combat. Utilizing archery and illusion as well to fortify the "guerrilla warfare" aspect I want. Light Armor, smithing (the latter being passive leveling no grinding Dwarven bows)

So far, a lot of fun. Would love to hear from anyone else playing or had played a Marsh Friend!!

Congratulations! You'll find that all, if not, most Argonians live in the Rift, or Eastmarch. Unless they're dirty bandits.

Greetings, Marsh Friend! I'm currently playing an Argonian character also. He's a stealthy, unarmored magician, with a dagger to fall back on. It's really a lot of fun. It's my first serious Argonian character also. I'm finding it's a different experience. I pay more attention to the other Argonian characters and help them more. I explore the water often with him. There's actually some interesting stuff underwater that I'm finding now for the first time.

I do have one other Argonian character who I've had a long time and has many hours played, but he's still a low level character. His name is Tests-The-Game. He helps test mods and stuff, as you probably can guess.

May the earth beneath your feet be always soft. Good fortune to your character.

I've never played an argonian. For some reason I can't make myself play beast races. I love Khajiit. They are about my favorite race, and I tend to prefer them as followers (particularly the amazing Inigo) but I can't make myself actually play one.

argonian is very interesting race, especially in morrowind where the watter offers even more hidden stuff. In skyrim, I manneged to play a "max paine" build with slow time shout enhancet via alternation longer efect and amulet and blessing of talos, mixed with lizard racial bonuses to one handed and dual wield it was realy fun!

I could never play as an argonian and definitely not a khajiit, never a cat person as I can't take khajiit seriously at all.

but these beast races are best for unarmed builds and if you never tried an unarmed build in TES series, than you are missing some great moments like killing dragon with just a hands. And that's what do I call The Dragonborn! :disguise:

i, too, have yet to play as an argonian in skyrim and beth's extreme nerfing of water-breathing (and, racial differences- purely cosmetic) meaningfulness is why. in contrast, i love playing as an argonian in morrowind.

I thought the same thing and had to force myself to play a Khajiit. He ended up being one of my more interesting characters, and I take back what I said about not liking them. :)

My first attempt failed however because of stupid things Beth implemented. I made a badass black panther Khajiit and I made him a vampire. But turning him into a vampire turned his fur a sickly grey colour which was a massive disappointment,

Thank you for your opinion. As I recall every race is on the same level when starting out in the TES series. That being Morrowind and Oblivion as well as Skyrim.

Sure some skills start out a little higher than others. But once you get any character of any race established, that being on a particular set of skill or build, no race is really that better than the other if you really think about it. Nords are good for melee. Well, I have a Nord who specializes in both melee and magic.

It all comes down to an opinion or a preference.

In the matter of fact, I definitely agree. I just about your own preference of how will you look. But I recon that playin like human-lizard is pretty cool.

I just couldn't bring myself to play a beast race for the longest time. I guess I'm guess old and a "Human or Elf" rpg dinosaur! I'm taking advantage of the water more (no armor on of course) which gave infiltrating and escaping the Honningbrew Meadery an interesting flavor.

He's also at times teaming with Khajaro which I find hysterical.

I do agree that Argonians look pretty cool. They mainly remind me of Reptile from Mortal Kombat.

Congrats, Angus Fang! I just started an Argonian heavy armor shield-bashing pyromancer. Maximum horns. I’m sure you’ve found out that your Histskin can get you out of some dual-wielding tight spots. I’m looking forward to trying out the Argonian unarmed damage bonus in some brawls. Yay for the marsh folk!

And I don't know if you saw some of these TES lore series on youtube, but did you know that all argonians came from trees? But wait, I mean like they are born from trees!

The Hist and how they're reborn from it?

That is some good ES lore, reminds me of how the daedra are reborn in the sea of Oblivion.

I'm way over 800 hours and still never got the urge to play beast races. Not sure why in particular; I have nothing against them but I seem to get stuck with the Dark Elf / High Elf / Breton axis.

My favorite beast race has to be Khajiit, I haven't done a serious playthrough with one yet, but I definetly plan on it sooner or later.

Btw Morchai you have one of the best signatures Ive seen on any forum ever xD

Yeah, it's something I heard a very long time ago but don't remember where. It's useful as a signature because while calling someone an idiot is a no-no, politely telling them that you aren't going to argue with them is not. ;)

I usually always play Dark Elf, High Elf, or Nord. That said my best character was a level 73 Argonian mage that mastered most schools of magic. I took a long break from the game, but picked it back up not long ago. I started a Khajiit spellsword, and he is now my best character at level 82.

He still has a long way to go before he can perk all the skills he really wants too. Still, he has been very fun to play.
