Character Names You're Proud Of

Post » Sun Apr 19, 2015 12:58 pm

I've been playing video games for a long time, most of them RPGs. In these games I am often "allowed" to name my characters. There are only a few that I am really proud of, either humurous or well fitting. The rest never really "grab me" like they should.

Merrigrin: A name I have used in multiple games throughout my playing days. A mash-up of Merriodock Brandybuck and Perrigrin Took from Lord of the Rings. It also seemed to describe most of my characters that smiled a lot

EverQuest in 2001. I created a Bard named "Kuhnnyng L'Yngwyst." It was around the time the Pierce Brosnan Bond Film came out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RRLN3Jo800 where an exquisite line is uttered by Moneypenny. Being a Bard in EverQuest, I did concentrate on learning as many languages as I could (there hundreds to learn), so it was both fitting and "tongue-in-cheek."

Niik Storm-Dancer in Skyrim. Niik being the Dragon language word for "Gale" and Storm-Dancer fitting in with my favorite shout, "Call Storm." So using that shout and then "dancing" in my called storm with my dual wielding Nord was just "perfect", in my eyes

What are some of your "Proudest Character Names" you have come up with ?

Well, Korthurn is a surname I created.

Biveron Korthurn is most often the full name. I love it.

It's really the only one I'm willing to publicize.

Turns-The-Page would be the obvious one for me I suppose. An Argonian devoted to stealing books.

I'm also quite proud of one of my Sims 3 characters, a rather sketchy girl whom I elected to name "Crystal-Beth". :P

Longbutt Nopants, the ultimate thief.

Just kidding, but that name sounds great. I think Mors Shatter-Hilt, my Nord Warrior on Skyrim was my best name I'd made.

I created a Fallout 3 character named Nuka. She started her game as one of Dukov's "girls" and was named by him. He gave her a Nuka-Cola necklace which she wore for the entire game.

Eawyn and Aemyn Eawulf were sisters I created for Morrowind. I created one, played her halfway through the main quest and then recreated her as an NPC and dropped her blindly into the game world. The other sister (and myself as well, since I didn't know where she was either) would then search all over Vvardenfell for her.

Indrele Ashushshirari was an Oblivion character who was the daughter of a Morrowind NPC named Yanabani Ashushshirari, a Mabrigash living in the Grazelands.

I have a few humorous names I created for Fallout, like Pepper Spray and Molly Hatchet. For some reason Fallout seems to bring out humor in my character names that other games do not.
