Killing Floor 2

The sequel to Tripwire Interactive's cult classic zombie mutant shooter is releasing on Early Access tomorrow (4/21/15).

The first Killing Floor is one of my favorite games, the first to reach 300 hours played on Steam and most of that was over about a 12 month period.

The basics of the game are corporate genetic engineering gone wrong which releases hordes of mutants, not zombies!!, on the world. Up to 6 players work together in coop (no pvp) to drive off the hordes in waves. Each waves gets longer and harder and you earn money as you kill stuff with the ability to spend that money between waves to upgrade your gear and resupply with ammo. The game really forces teamwork as each perk/class has strengths and weaknesses and badly formed teams or teams where players don't do their jobs (or try to do things that are NOT their jobs) will be killed off pretty quickly.

I don't do much following of games during development as I have no desire to get wrapped up in hype/hysteria/whatever that ruins games for a lot of people so I don't have many details and if you are looking for a bunch of links to dev logs and pre-release previews you will have to find those on your own. I do know they made some changes; the setting has moved from England to France, the perk/class system has been completely reworked and http://www.pcgamer.com/killing-floor-2-gore-system/:

I know Early Access is a nasty word to a lot of people, but if I would ever guarantee a developer following through with the Early Access System it is Tripwire. Late last year they were still releasing free content for the first Killing Floor, a 5 year old game, while the sequel was in the finishing stages. From Steam Page:

While I am mentioning that the game is Early Access and what that means to the developer I don't want this to turn into a discussion of that decision or the system itself. There are other places to do that.

Anyone else fired up to explode zeds and earn dosh? If you are feel free to add me on Steam: sbr32 with the same Batman avatar.
