Hello forum, I decided to start lifting weights two weeks ago to lose some extra pounds. Right now I am lifting on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and I am using the Insanity Upper Body workout DVD which combines weights with some cardio. When I weighed myself this morning I found that I had gained four pounds, much to my chagrin. Is it normal to gain weight at the start of a new weight lifting routine or am I doing something wrong? Should I be concentrating on pure cardio to lose the weight instead of lifting? I guess I could run more but I absolutely despise running. Any advice would be a great help. Oh and I am 34 years old, if that makes any difference.
