Discussion for Workshop Paid Mods - Thread 14

Post » Tue Apr 28, 2015 10:33 am

that's not to say that there shouldn't be resistance when this pops up again (probably for a new game). gaming is expensive enough as it is, but most communities are strong and positive which i think makes a lot of people stick around and justify spending $100 on a game. introducing revenue to the mix will inevitably create tension and possibly even create what could be compared to an 'underclass' of PC gamers

I think the community will recover, and like with all communities they always had / have their share of scum bags.

Moderators from many forums can now go and put band aids on those blistered fingers suffering from overuse hitting the BAN button.

Paid mods may come back in future beth games, so would it be reasonable to continue this discussion as a community to find a balance that would be a win/win/win gamers/modders/beth&valve ?

In a way I'm glad it all happened because it gave Bethesda and Valve a little better understanding of the community and will probably convince them to remain hands off where modding is concerned. But, I am disappointed in certain elements of the community that took their protests too far with personal attacks against those modders that chose to participate in the experiment. I'm sure there are a lot of folk who owe an apology to modders like Chesko, but I doubt it will happen.

I'm happy with the decision. It shows that there is some good left in the world. Bethesda has maintained it's status as a reliable and quality developer. It's not easy to admit you were wrong but they have.

I would support Bethesda if they took the most professional mods and essentially checked them, improved them and then sold them. Not the enabling of terrible mods be put forward at exorbitant prices.

I don't feel like celebrating. I just hope that the wounds inflicted in the past few days will heal and we will be able to get back to normality.

Good! Maybe next time they'll conceptualize a model that will work and be acceptable.

I'm sure the broader community could have really done without this train wreck. Lots of places were lit on fire these past few days.

I'm glad that the community proved such a http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1516885-discussion-for-workshop-paid-mods-thread-10/page-5#entry23945922 wrong.

While I'm glad this this is over, but they will try again in the future as some people stated above earlier. However, I hope Bethesda is willing to increase the revenue for modders from scraps (25%) to an actual revenue (50% or more).

I'm actually not even in favour of donations to mod authors, as we've seen it's debatable about wether you can class that as getting paid for modding which is against the EULA for most of these games. I have never setup to get donations from users of my mods, it has been enough for me to get positive feed back from them instead.
