[RELz] [WIPz] Custom Robot Followers

At the moment you can have R2D2 and / or an Oblivion Drone, K9 and Vincent are still WIP basically awaiting voice acting. After these two are released I'll be working on creating Claptrap and T3-M4.

Most likely this will be a slow burn project which I plan on working on when I need a break from my Dalek mod (since it's a big project).

For starters I always liked VINCENT from the Blackhole (crappy movie, cute robot), hopefully I can find a voice actor who won't sound as cheesy as the original voice for him. I've got some dimensions of Dr Who's K9 which I plan on adding later and I'm still tossing up wether to do a R2-D2 but I'm undecided at the moment about him.

So if you have any ideas, pictures, or suggestions of custom robot followers you would like to see post them up and you might be able to twist my arm into adding it to the list.

Having a break from the Dalek mod, I put some time into the UV map and textures for Vincent and I've come up with this for "The Wasteland Grot Bag Version" of him.

This looks fantastic. You know, I actually saw The Black Hole when it came out. I don't recall much about it now except that I wasn't very impressed when I walked out of the theater.

But anyway, your version of VINCENT looks very accurate and really well done. You're doing great work. :tops:

Thanks very much for that I appreciate it. I did go ahead and do a skeleton and skin export, the skeleton proved a little tricky as it was my first time with IK solvers and constraints.

Thought I couldn't leave poor old K9 out of the picture so I had a bit of a go at his textures (still not finished yet).

Can't help myself and this time it's R2D2 but I will have to weaponize him. Does anyone have a suggestion of where and what? I know he's supposed to be able to fire flare grenades from one of his top head panels, but I wouldn't be so silly as to give a follower any kind of explosive ammo least the player become a victim.

:celebration: Woo hoo! K9 lives and he looks very cute running around! Still got lots of .kf files to make and he's not all that pleased with stairs but otherwise he's coming along well!

Another update pic featuring K9 and R2D2 (Wasteland Grot Bag Versions), they're both running around and both seem to have a fetish for the small set of stairs. They will both fight back, K9 with a single laser beam and R2 has the arc welder beam.

Needless to say I've got a head of steam up and plan on many more critters in the future.

Edit...

Cool!! My little trick with the laser effects works, I can have Vincent firing both from arms at once. This should work with other creatures. :D

It's only going to get harder from there. But still, you're so far the only one that has come close to bringing in a fully animated-from-scratch entirely new actor to skyrim.

If anyone can come up with some ideas where to place R2D2 and Vincent it would be a help, I worked out a place for the Oblivion Drone and a spot for K9 but I'm stumped at the moment thinking about where to put these other two.

Perhaps in McCarran, Nellis, or Searchlight for R2D2. That is somewhere near one of the aircraft/airports.

Took about 3 goes at finding a spot that worked and I finally ended up placing R2 just down from Primm, I'm trying to find locations which are away from human settlements and trying to avoid being to close to the wildlife. Even thought R2 does fight the odd ant it seem to work out okay where I've got him now and it also gave me the idea to re-create a familiar Star Wars scene.

The escape pod could be textured a little better and it still needs a normal map.

I'll most likely stick Vincent up the north end of Nellis where it's plausible for his arrival to have been overlooked by the Boomers, which would have been a bit hard for R2 considering the noise something like that would make in RL.

I know this is late in the conversation ... but I really like vincent too ... And that double laser gun of those walking robots was pretty cool too.

You do some awesome work ... I think your making it hard for me to NOT finally get NV ... so I can view your work in game.
