Humorous Happenings

On my way to The Republic of Dave, I came across a ruined farmstead, just a bit North of Rock Creek Caverns. Inside this farmhouse was a working Terminal! Well, I had to check out this magical terminal that had no noticeable power source :)

In it were a bunch of "named entries." As I read through them, they were logs from the people who emerged from a Vault (unnamed) and how they were fairing. The entries went through names like Jim, Rebecca, Doc, and... Tyler. Tyler had 2 entries in a row. The first was something like "Me Tyler. Me big dumb stupid. hur hur" The very next one (from Tyler again) was "Can we get a password put on this thing? I noticed, Rebecca, that I wasn't big, dumb, or stupid when I helped you fix ."

I laughed quite heartily after reading that! (Simple minds are simply amused.)

What have you come across in the game that put a smile on your face?

How Yao Guais seem to just sneak up behind me as if they're stealth bears. I find it incredibly ridiculous.

Are you speaking of the ones that take off into space? I've had a few that do that, then land near me and kill me!

Yea. Annoying that! My Yao Guis seem to take a death flight in my present game. The kill shot seems to send them flying for a bit. Not a massive leap like into the stratosphere, but they will will fly up or back a few feet when they die :)

Yes! Its bonkers how far a presumed 650-800 lb. creature will fly with a bullet to the head.

I think the guys and gals at Bethesda must have had a lot of fun making this game. You can find little humorous touches tucked away almost everywhere you go, even in the least expected places. I think that's one reason why I like Fallout 3. The dark humor in this game suits my own sense of humor pretty well.

Something that always makes me smile are the Protectrons who still collect tickets even though it is obvious - to everyone but them - that the trains aren't running anymore. At the same time I think this is also kind of sad too. For a moment I get a glimpse of what normal life must have been like before the war. I'm keenly aware of the absence of the commuters who used to hand over these tickets everyday.

That's another thing I like about the humor in this game. There is pathos in it too, sometimes, which makes it all the more interesting to me. And other times the humor is pretty grim, as when we see people worshiping a bomb. I find the humor in this game fascinating.

I just like that if you have a ticket they will take it and carry on about their day, I always make sure to carry at least one so that if I do meet/activate a Metro Protectron I can give him my ticket so he doesn't feel completely useless... not that Protectrons can feel.

Yes. In agreement here. I enjoy finding these little things in the game and often find myself wondering, "What on Earth?" I get the impression that the devs truly did have a good time writing this game :)
