Skyrim Roleplay Challenge: Call of the Kyn

Post » Sat May 09, 2015 1:21 am

This roleplay challenge is, unfortunately, only available to PC users.

You are challenged to make the coolest looking dremora character using http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52507/? and roleplay them and have fun in the process.

Once you have your character, get some screenshots (sans helmet) and share them in this thread.

Get one screenshot of your dremora character standing next to Balgruuf after defending Whiterun.
Get one screenshot of your dremora character standing over a dead Ulfric Stormcloak.

Any others you wish to take and share are welcome of course.

If you are really proud of your character, then you can even upload screenshots to the mod's images.

You can post in this thread if you are taking up the challenge and also to share screenshots.
This thread may also be used to discuss roleplaying a dremora.

Anyone not interested should not post.

You dont need a Mod to look like a Dremora, a Dunmer with dark skin and Red Warpaint comes close enough, hence the very challenge of Roleplay being imagination.

As for Discussion: Ive had a Dremora character in Oblivion and Skyrim for many years and i just make it a goal to collect and hoard as much Daedric paraphernalia as i can including books, alchemical supplies, weapons, armor, and of course artifacts. Since my Dremora is a Valkynaz he has much power over other lower ranking Daedra so Conjuration is less of a method of binding for him and more of a snap of his fingers to summon his lessers. He tries to further the goals of all Daedric Princes as they are the only Daedra who would outrank him and he enjoys collecting trophies from their realms or their servants.

Strictly speaking, a dunmer with red warpaint is a dunmer with red warpaint. It is not a dremora and the game will not recognize it as anything other than a dunmer. Dremora are daedra. The mod linked to has a good number of customization options, so you can make dremora characters that don't look like every other dremora encountered and the dremora you can make with it are daedra.

I like the view of conjuration your character uses. My dremoras have a similar view point.

Do you have any screenshots of your Skyrim dremora character that you would like to share here?

Does the mod you linked add unique race specific NPC dialog for dremora? I have played Oblivion as a Xivilai with COBL balanced races that adds a playable Xivilai race, but all the NPCs in the game called him "ash born" as if he were dunmer.

The biggest roleplay challenge with playing a deadra is rationalizing how a daedra can casually walk into a city and not get attacked/send everyone screaming for their lives.

I don't see the problem with that. In Morrowind and Oblivion we have Dremora acting as servants, and if we summon one in public, nobody runs away screaming.

Well, summoned ones are temporary and clearly under the control of the summoner, and in Onlivion there is only one dremora servant I know of who briefly appears to deliver a message on behalf of the mages guild and disappears, so it's not a regular occurrence, and the few you do meet are clearly under the control of a mage. But yeah, that's how I rationalized it. Xarvrax was under control of an old and powerful mages guild member for many years, so everybody got used to him roaming around. When his master died, he became a free agent and his adventure began.

Granted, Morrowind has at least one hanging out at a dunmer temple, but that was before the daedra invasion. I suspect people would be more concerned about daedra after the Oblivion crisis.

Fair enough.

No, there is no race specific dialogue. The character will not be referenced as if of another race.

The fact is, a daedra player character, can walk into a city without issue. The reactions some people seem to expect ( a dremora character to get) are not race based, but based on factions. The fictional game world we are playing in is one with much variety and its inhabitants are used to the variety which would explain the why a (player) character of any race could walk into any city without incident.

Take the challenge, and enjoy.

I played a Xivilai that used Alien Slof's meshes and textures. Cool, for sure.

I can see how the variety of inhabitants might jade the view of the inhabitants somewhat, and yet... I still note that deadra are always being attacked everytime I see them. either by the mages who apparently summoned them, by guards in the area, or by that blonde bard guy, or by Vigilantes of Stendarr. That wouldn't seem to indicate a great deal of acceptance to me, eh? :)

Still, it's a fantasy world, and anything is possible I suppose...

I’ve thought of playing a dremora left behind during the Oblivion crisis who is trying to get home to the Deadlands. Since his armor and weapons abandoned him years ago, getting the Smithing skill up to the point where he could make new daedric gear would be a priority. That lends itself to exploration more than city life and trade, which would side step the obvious issue of townsfolk casually asking him to run their errands as if he was some mortal. Then when the right quest kicks in, recovering Mehrune’s Razor would attract his Lord’s attention so that he could regain his status among the Kyn. After that I was out of ideas.

What’s the thought behind completing the Civil War for the Imperials?
