The wagon comes to a halt, Dar'zaka and the others all leave the wagon, one of the others, he find outs, is Ulfric Stormcloak, the leader of the Stormcloak rebellion. The thief he followed to the camp, got a not so wise idea to try and make a run for it, needless to say he is no longer among the living. As Dar'zaka approaches the guards they reveal that he is in fact, not on the list. But send him to his death regardless. Something the quiet Dar'zaka would not soon forget. Before the first prisoner is sent to be executed, a loud roar can be heard. The execution proceeds anyways, once the first prisoner is executed another roar can be heard, and whatever it is, sounds to be closer. Dar'zaka is sent to the chopping block, and his life, however sad and ridden with death it was, flashes before his eyes. And at that very moment, Dar'zakas life is saved, for a dragon attacked Helgen the very moment he was to be executed. He thought not much of it, other than a chance to survive. He didn't think it to be a sign from the gods, but a lucky break for him. He makes an escape, jumping through an open gap in the roof of an inn next to were he ran to. Shortly after he is forced to make a decision, to go with the guard who had led him to safety, after sending him to his, thought to be, sure death. Or the stormcloak rebel who had been in the wagon with him. He goes with the stormcloak, for now.
After a few small brawls with Imperial Soldiers escaping Helgen, and looting everything along the way, Dar'zaka and the stormcloak escape and watch as the dragon flies over and away from them. The stormcloak says he knows someone in a nearby town called Riverwood, Dar'zaka decides to go with him for the time. Once there, the quiet Dar'zaka is asked to make a trip to whiterun to inform the Jarl of the dragon attack so he can prepare his troops, thinking there will be rewards, he takes on this task, even though speaking with others isn't his strongest skill. He begins the journey, headed in the direction pointed out by the stormcloak rebel. With a trusty bow on his back, and arrows to spare, all that he managed to get from the dead in Helgen, he embarks on this journey with confidence, that it will be a simple one. And for the most part he was correct, the trip to whiterun was nothing he couldn't handle, a few wolves is nothing his bow and arrow and sneak skills can't take out. Upon arriving to the farms outside of Whiterun, a group of 5 or more people could be seen fighting off a giant in the distance. Dar'zaka approaches the fight stealthily, with bow drawn, firing arrow after arrow to help these people. The fight continues for a few minutes and once the giant drops, Dar'zaka is approached and told that a group called the Companions may be interested in him, since they like how he handled himself. He doesn't think much of it, after all, he's got a message to deliver.
Getting into whiterun took some persuading of the guards, but he did get in none the less. Entering Whiterun, to him, seems rather foreign, for this place seems tidy, and clean compared to his hometown of Riften. After strolling down the street a little, Dar'zaka sees a man and woman arguing about some lost item. An opportunity for gold, he thinks to himself as he goes to confront the angry man about the arguement. "What were you argueing about just there?". Asks Dar'zaka. The man, now known as Amren says his family sword had been taken by a group of bandits, and needs it back, Dar'zaka suggests he takes on this task, and Amren agrees to it. But Dar'zaka still remembers, hes got more important issues to deal with still, he's off to see the Jarl at Dragonsreach. He reaches Dragonsreach and enter immediately, speaking to the Jarls housemaiden first and then the Jarl himself. Dar'zaka informs him of the dragon attack, and that Ulfric Stormcloak was also there. The Jarl thanks him and sends him to his court wizard for another task. To go and get an item called the Dragonstone, unsure of what to do, Dar'zaka decides to head back to Riverwood to see if there's any items he can steal that may be useful. The trip back to Riverwood was more dangerous than the one to Whiterun. For an ironic occurrence happened, almost costing Dar'zaka his life.
About halfway back to Riverwood, Dar'zaka, who lived the life of a petty theif, was approached by a thief. "Alright, hand over all your stuff and I wont gut you like a fish!". Demands the thief. "Do I look like I have anything to you?" Asked Dar'zaka. "Yes, actually, you look quite ripe with goods". Exclaimed the thief. "I don't have time for this". Says Dar'zaka, attempting to walk away. "Hey, don't walk away from me!" shouts the thief, taking a swing at Dar'zaka with his dagger. Luckily Dar'zaka had a war-axe and an iron shield he'd picked up back in Helgen, being more of a archer than a brute warrior, he didn't think he'd make it out of this jam alive. The thieves first attack strikes hard and clean "GAAH" yells Dar'zaka, while equipping his shield and war-axe just in time to block the next 2 incoming strikes with his shield. Dar'zaka then bashes the thief with his shield, stunning him momentarily. Seeing this he throws 3 quick attacks hitting successfully, but not fast enough to block the thieves next attack, which was a desperate one. The thief threw everything he had at Dar'zaka, bringing him close to death, he managed to throw another shield bash before the thief threw a finishing move, stunning him and allowing Dar'zaka to throw a finishing move of his own, finishing this random encounter and making Dar'zaka think about the life of a thief. But soon just shrugged it off, after all, the life of crime and stealing is the only one he knows and continued on his way to Riverwood after looting the thiefs dead body.
