Post » Sat May 09, 2015 10:43 am

Hey all, im new to the forum, just recently stumbled upon it. Played Skyrim for some time now, but took a little break. Ive never tryed or even heard of DiD before or thought of roleplaying in skyrim. I also enjoy creative writting. So i thought id create a character and give him a little backstory, and since i have no one whos interested in skyrim at all, to share it with. I thought some on here would enjoy the read. any feedback in appreciated. thanks

Character Name - Dar'zaka

Character Race- Khajiit

Difficulty Level - Expert

Prologue/Back story

Spoiler
Abandoned and forgotten, left in the dirty streets of Riften after witnessing the murder of his mother by the hands of his own father, who then fled from Riften. A young Khajiit boy, Dar'zaka, only 10 years old, and having heard stories and rumors of how horrible the orphanage knew he would rather fend for himself. So therefore is forced to live in the gutters of Riften, feeding only off of scraps found in the street. After living this way for 2 years, Dar'zaka realized that garbage street food is longer enough to fill his hungry stomach. Pushed to pursue a life of crime and thievery, and being a smart boy, he'd remember when his family was "happy". He remembered when his father would come home from the Raged Flagon late at night, drunk of black-briar mead. He thought back to how easy it was for him to snatch a few gold pieces off him, even when he was awake, so he could buy a sweet roll the next day. He used those memories to help him survive. He'd sit outside of the Black-Briar Meadery at night, waiting for an unsuspecting drunk to come stumbling out for their journey home to bed, and pickpocket whatever they had. The drunk fools were none the wiser. And since Dar'zaka had spent so much time on the streets already, he'd known all guard patrols and stations, he basically knew Riften like the back of his hand, which he should since it's were hes been stuck his whole life. He managed to live that life, in the shadows, unnoticed for 8 years. Making choices he felt were good, the choices which lead to his survival. Not having a true sense of morals, he kept making these choices, not knowing it would lead to a life of darkness and deceit.
Dar'zaka, a true loner still, only weilding his long bow and arrows. Now 20 years old, has caught wind of an empty camp, near a border somewhere. Dar'zaka overheard a thief talking to a friend, "An abandoned camp, filled with food and valuables, even a horse still tied up. And not a soul around. I've seen it with my own eyes! By the gods, we must not turn up this gift that has been handed to us, I'd have enough to take some to my family in Rorikstead". The thiefs friend shakes his head in disbelief "Seems to good to be. A setup for the thieves guild maybe, but i will not be joining you, but if you so choose to go alone, then may Talos watch over you.". Dar'zaka watched as the thieves parted ways. He decided to follow the lone thief to this camp he spoke of. It has a long, tedious journey, but Dar'zaka stayed unnoticed in the shadows the entire trip. When they reached the camp, the thief went straight for the horse. With his back turned, Dar'zaka thought this was the perfect time to take the thief out and pillage the camp for himself, but before he could wield his bow and draw an arrow, he had heard yells and shouting behind him. He turned to see what the fuss was about and there appeared to be a group of Imperial Soldiers arresting what seemed to be two Stormcloaks. But before Dar'zaka could turn to make an escape, he was hit from behind with something and knocked unconscious. He woke up a little while later, confused and groggy from the blow that knocked him out. Through the pain in his throbbing head, he realized he's restrained and in a wagon with the thief he followed and the 2 stormcloak soldiers he had seen, they explained where they were going, and that Dar'zaka was to be executed along with the others in the wagon.
Part 1 - Helgen and Beyond
Spoiler
The wagon comes to a halt, Dar'zaka and the others all leave the wagon, one of the others, he find outs, is Ulfric Stormcloak, the leader of the Stormcloak rebellion. The thief he followed to the camp, got a not so wise idea to try and make a run for it, needless to say he is no longer among the living. As Dar'zaka approaches the guards they reveal that he is in fact, not on the list. But send him to his death regardless. Something the quiet Dar'zaka would not soon forget. Before the first prisoner is sent to be executed, a loud roar can be heard. The execution proceeds anyways, once the first prisoner is executed another roar can be heard, and whatever it is, sounds to be closer. Dar'zaka is sent to the chopping block, and his life, however sad and ridden with death it was, flashes before his eyes. And at that very moment, Dar'zakas life is saved, for a dragon attacked Helgen the very moment he was to be executed. He thought not much of it, other than a chance to survive. He didn't think it to be a sign from the gods, but a lucky break for him. He makes an escape, jumping through an open gap in the roof of an inn next to were he ran to. Shortly after he is forced to make a decision, to go with the guard who had led him to safety, after sending him to his, thought to be, sure death. Or the stormcloak rebel who had been in the wagon with him. He goes with the stormcloak, for now.
After a few small brawls with Imperial Soldiers escaping Helgen, and looting everything along the way, Dar'zaka and the stormcloak escape and watch as the dragon flies over and away from them. The stormcloak says he knows someone in a nearby town called Riverwood, Dar'zaka decides to go with him for the time. Once there, the quiet Dar'zaka is asked to make a trip to whiterun to inform the Jarl of the dragon attack so he can prepare his troops, thinking there will be rewards, he takes on this task, even though speaking with others isn't his strongest skill. He begins the journey, headed in the direction pointed out by the stormcloak rebel. With a trusty bow on his back, and arrows to spare, all that he managed to get from the dead in Helgen, he embarks on this journey with confidence, that it will be a simple one. And for the most part he was correct, the trip to whiterun was nothing he couldn't handle, a few wolves is nothing his bow and arrow and sneak skills can't take out. Upon arriving to the farms outside of Whiterun, a group of 5 or more people could be seen fighting off a giant in the distance. Dar'zaka approaches the fight stealthily, with bow drawn, firing arrow after arrow to help these people. The fight continues for a few minutes and once the giant drops, Dar'zaka is approached and told that a group called the Companions may be interested in him, since they like how he handled himself. He doesn't think much of it, after all, he's got a message to deliver.
Getting into whiterun took some persuading of the guards, but he did get in none the less. Entering Whiterun, to him, seems rather foreign, for this place seems tidy, and clean compared to his hometown of Riften. After strolling down the street a little, Dar'zaka sees a man and woman arguing about some lost item. An opportunity for gold, he thinks to himself as he goes to confront the angry man about the arguement. "What were you argueing about just there?". Asks Dar'zaka. The man, now known as Amren says his family sword had been taken by a group of bandits, and needs it back, Dar'zaka suggests he takes on this task, and Amren agrees to it. But Dar'zaka still remembers, hes got more important issues to deal with still, he's off to see the Jarl at Dragonsreach. He reaches Dragonsreach and enter immediately, speaking to the Jarls housemaiden first and then the Jarl himself. Dar'zaka informs him of the dragon attack, and that Ulfric Stormcloak was also there. The Jarl thanks him and sends him to his court wizard for another task. To go and get an item called the Dragonstone, unsure of what to do, Dar'zaka decides to head back to Riverwood to see if there's any items he can steal that may be useful. The trip back to Riverwood was more dangerous than the one to Whiterun. For an ironic occurrence happened, almost costing Dar'zaka his life.
About halfway back to Riverwood, Dar'zaka, who lived the life of a petty theif, was approached by a thief. "Alright, hand over all your stuff and I wont gut you like a fish!". Demands the thief. "Do I look like I have anything to you?" Asked Dar'zaka. "Yes, actually, you look quite ripe with goods". Exclaimed the thief. "I don't have time for this". Says Dar'zaka, attempting to walk away. "Hey, don't walk away from me!" shouts the thief, taking a swing at Dar'zaka with his dagger. Luckily Dar'zaka had a war-axe and an iron shield he'd picked up back in Helgen, being more of a archer than a brute warrior, he didn't think he'd make it out of this jam alive. The thieves first attack strikes hard and clean "GAAH" yells Dar'zaka, while equipping his shield and war-axe just in time to block the next 2 incoming strikes with his shield. Dar'zaka then bashes the thief with his shield, stunning him momentarily. Seeing this he throws 3 quick attacks hitting successfully, but not fast enough to block the thieves next attack, which was a desperate one. The thief threw everything he had at Dar'zaka, bringing him close to death, he managed to throw another shield bash before the thief threw a finishing move, stunning him and allowing Dar'zaka to throw a finishing move of his own, finishing this random encounter and making Dar'zaka think about the life of a thief. But soon just shrugged it off, after all, the life of crime and stealing is the only one he knows and continued on his way to Riverwood after looting the thiefs dead body.
Part 2 - To Riverwood again
Spoiler
Dar'zaka reached Riverwood shortly after the run in with the thief. He thought he'd stop in at the local traders, sell some of his unneeded equipment, and scope the place for anything useful he could come back and grab at night. Right when he entered, the shop-keep was arguing with a woman, about a missing item yet again, a Golden Claw. He asked if he could help and the shop-keep was more than happy to let me take on this dangerous task for him, Dar'zaka only had gold on his mind, and didn't care about the danger that lie ahead. To his convenience, the quest the Jarl asked him to do, and this new one to find the Golden Claw, were both at the same location. Being hungry for more gold, he could not turn up this chance to take out two birds with one stone. When leaving the shop to head to this Bleak Falls Barrow, Dar'zaka saw a man, who was also carrying a bow. He decided to talk to the man, who was having problems with a girl, and requested me to give her a letter. A letter than he wrote to her as another man to make her hate the other man and like him instead. He thought this man might be of use to him, being skilled in similar fields, so he did it, and gave the shop-keeps sister the note and returned to the man, Faendal. Who was happy to hear the news and offered to help him. Dar'zaka told him to follow and they headed towards Bleak Falls Barrow.
The trip there was easy, they both made it to the steps of the Barrow safetly. Killing a few wolves, and sneaking past a few bandits along the way. Once at the bottom of the steps, Dar'zaka, noticed a bandit patrolling, he looked at Faendal and said "Wait here". "Ill be here waiting for you". Replied Faendal. Dar'zaka readied his bow, and began to sneak silently up the steps, keeping the bandit in his sights. Once he was halfway up the stairs, he released his first arrow, with precise aim, it penetrated the bandits chest. But he still remained standing, Dar'zaka quickly readys another arrow, aims for the bandit, and releases. This time only clipping the shoulder, but doing enough damage to drop him for good. As Dar'zaka heads up the stairs he hears a bandit shout "Someones here!" and 3 more bandits come charging towards him. One bandit with a warhammer, one stops and readys a bow, the third with a one handed war-axe. Evaluating the situation, Dar'zaka aimed at the warhammer wielding bandit that was quickly gaining on him and releases an arrow straight for his forehead. Was a perfect shot, but the giant bandit kept charging, getting ready to swing his warhammer at Dar'zaka, who was readying an arrow, and would have been dead or very close to it, if it wasn't for Faendal firing an arrow and finishing the brute right before he could swing. Dar'zaka and Faendal finished off the remaining bandits and looted their bodys of anything of value. And approached the big old looking doors, the entrance to Bleak Falls Barrow.
Please let me know what you think n if you would like to hear more of this DiD Tale of Dar'Zaka.. thank you

If you like taking screenshots you should check the thread called "Show Us Your Screenshots" over in the Skyrim Cheats, Hints, Spoilers sub-forum. Great thread for storytellers.

We have plenty of console users share pics. I think they usually just use their cell phones, but that's ok.

An unfortunate incident happened to me last night, Dar'zaka remained alive and well, but his story may not continue unless i recreate him n get him to the same spot, for when i was playing my ps3, i decided to take a break from Dar'zaka and go back to my lvl 103 Orc character, Slacker, and go through the Dawnguard DLC with him finally. and being unaware of ways to prevent lag and etc. only used one save file for all my Characters. Now after going through only a few Dawnguard missions, and becoming a Vampire Lord with him (he was fairly evil, Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild done and almost all daedric). I continued on the journey to the next quest destination when a legendary dragon came down, pulled out my enchanted ebony shield and Daedric Sword to attack but my shield wasnt showing up, it was invisible, and now im noticing a large amount of lag. so i pause the game and restart from the farthers possible auto save. load up the Orc and pull out the shield, INVISIBLE and lagging still, i try dropping the shields, picking them up, selling and buying them back, dropping out of inventory and saving in new game then reloading and picking up, everything possible, even different low lvl shields, still invisible and lagging, so i load up Dar'zaka, loads but consistently lagging, shield visible, go to leave whiterun.. freezes. forced to restart system. load up a lvl 18 breton, Boris, shield works, but now also lagging alot, so i exit game and delete game data and re download patches and DLC content, still same things. Orc characters shield still invisible (which is one of his main tactics in combat, for stunning enemys) and all characters now lagging and crashing. So i put Skyrim in my sons ps3 and try it and his character worked perfecty, hes only lvl 5 and runs around the wilderness, only done quests up to slaying Milnumner (i think i butchered the spelling) but regardless, worked flawlessly, and his is an older generation, mine is newer, but not slim, and can run game that freeze on his, so me, assuming that the save file of slacker is glitched for good now and causing all my others to b unplayable, i tryed to make a new game on my system without deleteing anything, and the game wouldnt load to the opening scene after selecting new game. so i deleted the slacker game save.. sad moment, lots of hours gone, highest ever level gone, didnt get thieves guild trphy or deadric trophy but was so close, hoping this would help.. it did not, all other games still froze n crashed, even after deleting and reinstalling game data and DLCs again, so i made the bold choice the erase it all... everything skyrim related, and start 100% fresh.. sad day.. but i deleted it all and started new game,, now it works perfectly again. the game runs flawlessly, no freezing, no lag, and im taking extra precautions this time, new save game each time i save, auto saves turned off. cleaning up some dropped items as i go. I did get Dar'zaka past the bleak falls, n to riften again n into the thieves guild before this happened, i can share what there is of his story before the deleting had to happen, he survived till then tho
