Recently I've been learning the beauty of Skyrim on the PC. Oh the freedom...i feel so free.
I downloaded SkyRe and Live Another Life, (among like 50 other mods) to get the game started. But I noticed that once you start, like you do in vanilla, you are very squishy and don't have much power, be that magic, might, or rogue skills. So I'm getting actually squashed by skeletons on Adept (i think this is because of SkyRe.)
So I've been thinking to raise some skills with the console, not to cheat and feel all powerful, but to make my roleplay feel more genuine. Even though the game feels fresh, I'm sick of starting from scratch, especially if I have a roleplay with a specific character in mind, for example a powerful mage. If I want to RP and old, powerful wizard, why should I have to go through the motions I did hundreds of times before on Xbox, of painstakingly raising all my magic levels, when I should start already rather powerful, by my RP's standards? My 300 Altmer is going to know more than just Flames and Healing. So I was thinking of using the console to raise some skills first, for a battlemage. I've just gone through the beginning grinds far too many times because of restartitis, and I don't want the game to become stale again because of that. I really don't.
What are your thoughts on this? Cheating, or getting a jumpstart on roleplaying? And also, what are the commands to raise a skill level? (I won't go overboard, I promise. )
