Yes has a weird title. I was planning a new Shotgun Play-through but need help with making it a bit more fun. Now I got a rough idea in mind and if you have anything to suggest (LORE WISE, ammo, quest, etc etc) would be very helpful.

My rough idea:
Armor: Menphis Kid (only want to use clothing apearal)
Weapon: Dinner Bell

If you have GRA, there are a good variety of special shells such as Dragon's Breath and pulse slugs.

Fully modded Hunting Shotgun is superior to the Dinner Bell. Clip size is highly important, especially if this is your only weapon.

I would say that for almost any weapon, the modded version is usually better than the unique one, even if only slightly...
