Oscape has broken my worldspace mod

Post » Wed Jun 03, 2015 8:34 am

I generated LOD meshes and textures using oscape. When I load up my worldspace mod I just fall through the ground into flat water below. I have deleted all the terrain meshes, textures and LOD settings for the mod and restored my esp back to a previous version before I generated any LOD. But no matter what I do I still keep falling through my landscape floor into the water. Can anyone help me?

I'll try.

When you generated the LOD with Oscape did you change any of the default settings. I had that issue when I changed them, even though they were not the correct settings for my worldspace.

Also make sure your worldspace is square. ex. 32,32, 64,64, etc.

Did you place the tga textures into the correct folder before generating LOD?

This is what I did exactly:

1: Open Oscape and change game to Skyrim, used wrye bash to create an esm of my esp and loaded it up in Oscape

2: Clicked Fill

3: selected Hell(my worldspace) from the drop down menu

4: Ticked boxes surface map and colour map, then pressed extract

5. Generated meshes and textures, only unchecking the png tickboxes for colour and normal maps

6. Installed the Lod with the LOD settings checkbox ticked

The thing that puzzles me is that even when i use a previous version of my esp file before I even messed with Oscape or LOD that worked fine previously, I am still falling through the landscape

Have you tried not changing to an esm.

EDIT: are the settings correct for your world in the CK. Also make sure you DO NOT use Tamriel as a parent world space. That is sure to mess it up.

Oscape in no way edits your esp/esm file, so it shouldn't break or ruin anything.

Make sure your worldspace has no parent unless you know exactly what you're doing with that (and it's actually part of the parent).

You don't need to convert your world to an ESM, you just need to edit the ground texture files so their records exist in your esp. (rename them all to start with "My" or something, doesn't matter)

Firstly, Oscape will not break your mod. If your mod is broken, then it was broken when you opened it with Oscape.

Oscape only reads the data in the esp / esm. It does not write any data to esp / esm files.

I would look at the application you used before Oscape, namely Wrye Bash. This is the last application that has written to your esm.

Looks like it's done something that the game engine doesn't like.

Create a backup copy of your esp and change it to a full esm with the Creation Kit. Use this to generate LOD

First of all thanks for all the help and replies. Im currently checking my max height date etc. in the CK. But yeah problem is I have backups of my esp dating back weeks that have previously worked fine, but no matter which version of my esp I use I still keep falling through the landscape. Its almost as if its somehow hardcoded the error into the Creation kit or Skyrim. Really weird, never experienced anything like it before

Just checked all my height, lod, water data in the worldspaces menu and its all how it should be and it has no parent worldspace as it should be. Really theres no reason at all it should be happening. Guess I'll try a total reinstall, failing that im stumped

It sounds like something is wrong with the height map data. Double check in the CK and in Oscape in the Hightmap tab after you extract the textures.

You have two of the best chiming in to help @TemBo and @ AV.

So i just turned the collision off using the console and "flew" back up only to find that I wasn't falling through my landscape but in fact my entire landscape (which is about the same size as tamriel's) has just plain vanished or been deleted:

As you can see all my static objects and such are still there, but the entire landscape has gone bye bye lol. Absolutely no idea whats going on here at all lol

Does the land exist if you load the worldspace in the CK?

Looks like all the textures are missing. Did you extract all the textures, converted them to tga format and placed in the Source folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Source as outlined by AV in his tutorial on generating LOD.

Its not a LOD issue. I've deleted all me LOD files its the actual default vanilla landmass that's missing. I will load it up in CK and see if land is visible. I've also noticed that all my esp files including backups have been halved in size from abt 30KB down to 14KB.

Yep makes no sense to me either lol. Somehow, somewhere my landmass has been erased. Only option is to bring out the file recovery software and hope I can undelete/recover a backup that's still ok. Failing that I'm done with modding lol

Long story short, always make backups! (If you don't have a single copy somewhere from sometime during the last SIX months, that's very bad!!!)

No clue what happened to your land though, you might have done something to it during your time with Wyre Bash, that's all I can think of.
