the is no brand named PC. a PC is just a collection of hardware, usually with a version of windows as an operating system. PC is short for personal computer. computers got smaller and cheaper. not sure where the term console came from.
these days the difference between the two is the console's hardware and operating system are closed. if console makers would allow a better OS, a console would become a PC. console makers often make little or no profit on the console. profit comes from licenses. there is a limit on how much most people will spend on fun things like gaming. which is why consoles are made with dated hardware. pc gamers are hardware junkys. got to have the best hardware they can afford or can't afford.
when both Xbox One and ps4 consoles came out, there was a 100 dollar difference because the Xbox One had an extra hardware that many gamers didn't care about. sure there cheap end PCs that will outperform consoles. but there windows with all sorts of nastys that they may become infected with. consider parents with no knowledge of computers giving a pc to the children to play games on. only the game won't play. could be driver problems, hardware problems, got a nasty. parents may feel stupid if they can't fix the problem. with consoles it either works or it doesn't.
this is why there are different markets for gaming.
