A Stitch In Time Saves Nine! -Vertibirds-

Post » Thu Jun 04, 2015 2:21 am

Now there's a pre-war Vertibird in the trailer. Cool.

Many people have come to the conclusion that Vertibirds, being just in the prototype phase before the war and not having entered full military service, couldn't have been around then.

However, there were prototypes that were already used in the field.

So the rumor of retcon is now hopefully debunked.

Considering that it was Bethesda themselves whom said that the Vertibird was a prototype pre-war asset not due for deployment until the mid-2080's they would only be contradicting themselves. They could just have designed a new helicopter.

I agree, Enclave is boring and would [censored] in Fallout 2's and Fallout 3's face.

Now where would a post-war Vertibird come from? Remains of Fallout 3. Which means either BoS or Enclave.

They could also have been around Boston for whatever reason. Enclave would have taken them, but did not (?).

We have no reason to believe the BoS died out, and know they acquired the enclaves vertibirds at the end BS, so if they aren't pre war prototypes, it's still very plausible for them to be in game, given the relative distance to the the commonwealth from the CW.

I do say no to enclave. I think those at the institute will be the new big bad (or hopefully just a shade of).

the vertibirds are used by more than the enclave also dont forget the institute will have some and the government used them befor the bombs. they are doing a back story and in the form of flash backs before the war it going to be a fun ride cant wait to walk around pre -war world

Could have been that, with the war and all, they needed to deploy everything they had to help people/maintain peace. I imagine most helicopters would be tied up at the front lines or in larger cities (the pre-war bit didn't look like a major city area, more like a smaller town outside one). They said it wasn't due for deployment until 2085. But things change.

I personally wouldn't doubt that the Institute would have a few, or even built them. It looks like those blimps were newly made, so why not vertibirds. They already have androids down packed.

The vertibirds and Power armor could be from a military force that hid in bunkers but they have no relation to the Enclave, kinda like the BoS in Broken Hills but now without the tech-obsessed monastic order.

I don't think the pre-war scenes are anything to do with the game.
not anymore than the mock commercials attached to F3 pre-launch hype were.

As for PA.
It isn't as if it was invented by the BoS or even the Enclave. It can easily be a pre-war relic. It would make sense, if there is a culture of working on robotics around the Institute that there would be those with the inclination and know how to make pre-war PA work.

Even the NCR had one .

About the "This is a scaled model of a prototype military transport vehicle being developed by the U.S. Military. The XVB02 "Vertibird" is a VTOL ("Vertical Take Off and Landing") craft with an extremely durable armored fuselage and can be armored with a variety of offensive weapons and defensive countermeasures. This is the most advanced aircraft of its kind ever developed, and the military hopes to press them into service by 2085." thing yeah that is weird.Could it be an early version?I mean they surely had other aircrafts before the Vertibird

Also this. Power Armor was used by the US Army. If the Institute was such a center for scientific research, it's not impossible that there was a military presence to secure important data/materials before the bombs hit. Or that there was a production facility nearby. Or that Beth just really likes its power armor :P

Maybe the museum plaque was simply out of date, and the government pushed it into service before anticipated.

I have said this in other threads, but did anyone notice the tail section of the vertibird? It had a red tail and correct me if I'm wrong but the Outcasts had red markings on their PA. Could this mean Outcasts are a faction? Does it make sense that they might migrate north since they were more concerned with how the BoS used to be and left Lyon's BoS? To me it makes sense since they were fanatic about collecting tech and would even confiscate your tech if you ran into them early in the game.

The NCR probably took it from Navarro after they wiped the Enclave out.

Don't think so, looks like the red tail is also on the one in the pre-war part except not faded out like the one we saw after it.

No, that's just a pre-war one. You can see the star and stripes on the flag behind the power armored soldier.

But the Outcasts don't let outsiders join, unless for some reason they have become a lot more open minded since 3.

Could it simply be a different model? The version in Fallout 3, the VB-02 was due for 2085 but what about VB-01? that model could have been in service for many years before the USA decided to upgrade it and could be the one we see in the trailer...

Also someone could had just stolen the prototype? Much faster than walking to an vault.

It's a recruitment poster for the U.S. military, look closely at the lettering at the top.

As for Vertibirds:

http://fallout.gamepedia.com/Vertibird#History

It may be a limited test run, deployed for trial runs in the safety of the north-eastern seaboard.
