Introductions and ideas

My adventures in the Fallout universe actually started with FO2. I played it tirelessly - so much so that I knew all of Sgt. Dornan's lines by heart. I since "moved on" to FO1 - getting the backstory is important, after all. FO: Tactics also got its turn, along with FO:BOS for PS2. Wasn't too fond of the latter - just didn't do the franchise justice, if you ask me.

Now, when FO3 first came out, my initial thought was "aw, hell no!", because the only true Fallout experience was to be had in 2D. None of this FPS nonsense. But of course, being the avid Fallout fan that I am, I had to try it - and I have to admit that I was smitten. My first meeting with FO3 was on PC, but I later bought the GOTY edition for PS3, which is also my chosen platform for FO:NV. And now comes FO4, which, for me, is the ultimate reason to acquire a PS4.

So much for introductions. Now on to the ideas.

We need a "remake" of FO1, 2 and possibly Tactics. I mean, most, if not all, new computers can't even run them. And they are far too good to just let them fade into obscurity. Not to mention that it might actually breathe new life into the games if they were reborn in the same style as FO3 and NV.

So this is my prayer to you, Bethesda. Now I just hope someone with the necessary power sees this.

Sincerely,

A longtime Fallout fan.

They can't be remade in the style of Fallout 3/FNV.

There are far too many large cities/towns to squeeze into one "giant" sandbox map.
There are some themes which Bethesda would not want to push, such as becoming a porm-star, and they would get cut.

SPECIAL, skills, traits and perks would all need to be reworked completely, some things would end up cut and others so mutated that they're not recognizable any longer.

The older games are also not exactly riddled with enemies and dungeons (outside of random encounters and even then I didn't engage enemies constantly), the newer games are.

Voice actors wouldn't make a return so they'd have to get new ones and so the older voiced characters would feel very "off".

Just in general the game would feel very uncanny valley, I mean, they can't even get the design of vault doors right, what makes you think they'd get everything else right?

Some dialogue responses are simply too meaty for Bethesda's current dialogue design, so dialogue would get reworked too.

I could probably list a ton of other things as well but my point is simply that if they remade Fallout 1/2/T into FO3/NV's style then they wouldn't be anything like Fallout 1/2/T. So if a remake would end up not being faithful to the original why waste time remaking a game when they could just let some studio create a new game all together, ala how Micro Fort?? was allowed to make Fallout Tactics or how Obsidian was allowed to make Fallout New Vegas? Why remake games that already work perfectly well? And why remake them into a style that they are simply not suited for? And why remake something that works when you could create something 'new' instead?

TL : DR

A remake is a waste of time.
