Random Conversations?

Post » Thu May 20, 2010 10:28 pm

After installing Morrowind enhanced + blocking enhanced I noticed that conversations will randomly start up without me initiating them. Anyone know how these could cause this?

It'll start if I press any of the WASD buttons. I don't know if that is it or not though.
I just tested it with morrowind enhanced and blocking enhanced off and it is still doing it. Must be another mod. How do I post which mods I am using? Sometimes I'll also get missing weapon textures warnings on some swords too.

edit: Nevermind I found out how. Here are my mods:

_001_ Morrowind.esm
_002_ Tribunal.esm
_003_ Bloodmoon.esm
_004_ Morrowind Patch v1.6.4.esm

_006_ Better Heads.esm
_007_ Better Heads Tribunal addon.esm

Sorry to double post but it Said I didn't have permission to edit. I noticed that the missing textures are only from the imperial guard's swords. It also doesn't look like darknut's weapon and armor textures are working... I used Morrowind plug-in manager to install some of my mods, was this a bad idea?

People seem to have this issue a lot with DN's Textures. They need a little manual love to be installed properly, I believe the readme covers this.

If you remake the package into a format that the manager will properly install, then you can do it that way. My guess is things got installed in incorrect places.

Hmmm, if there's a chance of that I think I'll just restart with my backup morrowind. Thanks for helping!
Still curious on the conversation thing though >_>

No worries. Personally I would suggest using Wrye Mash for doing mod installation (the latest released version had an installer in it). Once you get the hang of Mash, it is pretty much a modding life saver.

Anyways, in regards to using a mod manager (Wyre or another), I consider it to be a good practice to make sure of how the manager goes about installing the package, and then I actually repack any mod I download and install myself to ensure that everything is kosher and that the configuration is as it needs to be. During this repack, I always suggest taking a look over the mods readme file to see if there is anything you should be aware of (known bugs, conflicts, special installation instructions, etc). Using this info will allow you to ensure you set your installer friendly package up just the way it needs to be for a quick mod manager install.

I know it means even more work in the process, but I (and many other around here as well) can vouch that the end results are well worth the effort put in as you will have an amazing looking game with features set just the way you like them (as best as is available, obviously that is a broad statement and may not apply to everyone).

Wish I could be more help on the random conversations issue - I have never had it happen myself, before. I think in this case, as you stated, a quick reinstall and starting fresh may be best. Get everything packaged and set for the install, and then try things out. If you maintain the issue, I suggest doing a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Binary_search with your mod list to track down the mod causing the issues (and please do report back your findings - I am very curious myself).

After disabling mods one at a time I found that the problem went away after disabling HotFusion's Economy Adjuster. I didn't expect the problem to come from an economy mod O_o. Anyone know another good economy mod that adds realism?

I can confirm this, I was having the same problem; after reading this thread and removing HotFusion's Economy Adjuster it stopped as well.

I assume so, that is the one I found after reading this. I installed it but haven't played long enough to see how it works, thought the random conversations have stopped.
