ENBoost, ENB, and Oblivion Reloaded?

Post » Tue Jun 23, 2015 5:05 am

Hey guys, I'm interested in http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/46156/? and with OR being more or less ENB compatible now I was wondering if it was possible to use ENBoost with an Oblivion ENB? Some older posts on the ENBoost were semi-helpful, in that ENBoost didn't work with older versions of OR obviously, but nothing as of OR 2.0. I also don't know if I should be using wrapper or injector versions. The ENBoost page says there are problems with MSI Afterburner and such, which I use, so is there any workaround for that as well?

ENBoost still doesn't work with OR and I don't think it ever will. Alenet has corrected that on the Nexus OR page.

I am trying to decide whether to use ENBoost or OR. Which do you think is better purely from a game stability and smoothness perspective?

He added it as a pinned thread in his posts section but if he really wants to prevent confusion, he should add a note to the description under the section entitled "You must not use Oblivion Reloaded with:" That section does not list ENBoost, so people who don't see the pinned Nexus thread or just read the thread here are understandably confused.

I would go with OR. It gives stability and smoothness a LARGE boost. It has a Frame Manager (so disable Streamline's portion that manages what objects are rendered dynamically - Streamsmooth I think it is). It also feature a Purger that you can define how often it purges memory (and graphics memory).

Thanks! I am going to give OR a try. I recently installed ENBoost and honestly did not notice much of a difference. I had a stable game to begin with, but I was hoping for a little better FPS/smoothness.

I don't use Streamline; its memory purger was crashing my game. I do use OSR and capping the FPS at 30 negated any need for a memory purger. My game ran stable for hours. But it sounds like I should turn off OSR's framerate manager and just use OR for to manage framerate and leave OSR to just heap replacement? Or does OR's Frame Manager work in conjunction with OSR's maximum/minimum framerate functions?

OR does not manage framerate in the sense that it does not cap or floor it, that's still OSR's job, so yes you can use them together.

Yeah, I just read in the comments that ENBoost and OR still aren't working together so I guess that answers that lol. Also was just about to ask if I should use OSR and OR's framerate managers together, and Turija beat me to it :P
