Project : Aftermath

What if you were to take the experience of Fallout and transfer that to streaming media in the form of a scripted series but with audience control? Let me explain. The main vehicle in this new Golden Age of television has been chapter based programming. Although some people tend to leave the program based on the fact that a story line went in one direction or their favorite character was written out. What if people had control over those elements though similar to the game play of Fallout, Skyrim etc…

The program itself would start the from the zero hour moment when everything goes awry, which would be all electronic devices becoming unusable except for mobile devices which would slowly lose power and die. The beginning of the story would focus on a group of people who live in a suburban neighborhood and obviously with no electrical devices working they initially assume it is a blackout until days go by and they worry what has happen and leave for safety. Through the journey for safety and answers is where the choices take place. Each show will have one or two choices for the viewers to make. They could be subjects such as they encounter two people but only have enough supplies to take one which one should they take. There could also be ways for the audience to understand more about the situation like giving the audience a choice to where the group should head. When these scenarios are presented to the audience it would be more than just choose option A or option B. With each question there would be RISKS and BENEFITS presented to the audience with a percentage for each. Risks would dictated the possibility of some danger affecting the group/audience where the Benefits would give the group/audience a benefit. Let’s look at the "where should the group head question" mentioned previously.

Option A may say “Do you wish to see the group continue up the river through the forest?” Option B may say “Do you want the group to head into the city?” With these questions a brief summary would follow, along with the benefit and risks of each both for the group and audience members. So Option A would sound like this: “Do you wish to see the group continue up the river through the forest? Proceeding up the river would allow the group safe passage (1% Risk). As mentioned in a previous episode there may be airfield located up river (5% Benefit)” Option B would sound like this “Do you want the group to head into the city? Proceeding into the city may pose significant danger to one of the members. (67 % Risk) There is a large possibility to gain information and/or items on what happened at zero hour to cause the event (87% Benefit)” From the audience's prospective on Option A they may be heavily invest in the characters or one or two in particular and do not want to see any harm come towards them plus there is a benefit of an airfield which could allow the group to go to a brand new location. From the audiences prospective on Option B they may still be heavily invested in the characters or one or two in particular and do not want to see any harm come towards them but the benefit of learning what the zero hour event may cause people to become extremely conflicted. Yes there is a great chance to find out about the mysterious events but they may lose one of their beloved characters.

The selection of the choice could be done through texting or internet voting . Given Bethesda’s substantial fan base, myself included, this could easily become a hit series as well be something truly revolution. The story line would not be in the Fall Out Universe it is something completely different. The best way to deliver such a series would be through Netflix. I sent this idea to Bethesda the response I got back was encouraging so they suggested it be posted here for people to review and see if enough momentum could be build behind it either to make this a go or crowd fund to make this a go. So I give you “Aftermath”. More will be posted about it not plot wise yet though just in case of the infinitely small chance this is a go then the plot will be leaked. What are you thoughts? Thanks
