Mods For Consoles; Fallout 3NV

Post » Tue Jun 23, 2015 7:14 am

So, from watching the Fallout 4 Xbox E3 video of Todd Howard talking about bringing mods to consoles, I'm almost positive he never just said for Fallout 4. Correct me if I'm wrong, but with backwards compatibility, could we be seeing in the future mods for Fallout 3 and New Vegas on the Xbox?

And yes, I'm including Skyrim..

No, because the backwards compatibility is literally just a VM running an exact emulation of the actual Xbox360 hardware and OS. Mods would require a patch of the game and probably the console OS to allow them to be installed.

The possibility of mods on Xbox One is because of Microsoft's now laxer restrictions of running code on the console (as evidenced by the ability of any retail Xbox One to be converted to a devkit and the Xbox Game Preview program). In comparison, the 360, even the emulated one, is much more locked down.

I'm pretty sure we can't discuss that here..as I've known that for years..

I'm referring to PC mods...stuff you can't do on a regular xbox..
