Canadians... What if the majority of us stopped buying day 1

Agree.
A new SNES game was usually $80-100

It wasn't until the Playstation2 / Xbox era that games settled around $60

I'm not canadian, but I'll add to the point. There are too many retailer exclusives and platform exclusives and overpriced DLC that was Paywalled away, that the only to win is not to play, unless you wait for the Game of the Year version to come out, that comes with a large majority of the content.

Day One sales must suffer if the industry is going to change. Pre-order numbers must suffer if the Industry is going to change.

Vote with your wallet. Wanna fight back? Hit them where it hurts, and that place is in their sales numbers.

I just do not recall them being that expensive. I did not buy a lot of games for my NES/SNES, but the ones I did I would not have spent that much for a video game. Maybe I got used copies? I do not remember.

Also, this was after 1990 for me, so maybe this was prior to that? The thing is, I would never pay 80-100 dollars for a video game. Never.

[EDIT]

Exception: MMORPGS. I have spent well over $100 in EverQuest and World of Warcraft. But not all at once :)
