had Rayya as a housecarl at windstad manor. first time a housecarl died on me. do housecarls die when i am not there? see i thought i could get two housecarls. i became thane of hjaalmarch. did rayya die to make room for valdimar?

Rayya is the Housecarl of Lakeview Manor, not Windstad. Did you make her your steward for Windstad?

yes i made her housecarl at windstad then i became thane of hjaalmarch. housecarls will travel to their designated home to guard. so i thought i could have two housecarls at the same homestead.

Thats something I never tried before. Did you find her body? Or did she just vanish?

i got a notice from a courier that she died. i went to where i left her and found her body.

Are you playing a modded Skyrim game on the PC or a vanilla Skyrim game on a console (like Xbox or Play Station)?

As a housecarl, Rayya is protected, meaning only the player can kill her. I don't think that the steward alias overrides that, so it shouldn't be possible for her to die while you're not there.

A PC mod could change that, such as one that was supposed to change only her outfit, but did more than intended.

but she wasn't at her default spot. i am on another outing. i try it again and see what happens.
