I have an interesting problem. I found a custom clothing mod that I like, but the author chose to make it WAY overpowered; he gave it an insane armor rating and a ridiculous price, and has it crafting under steel. I would like to make a "patch" mod to change it to basic non-armored clothing, a realistic price, and crafting at the tanning rack, all without actually altering his mod, or having to completely duplicate his mod meshes/textures in my mod, especially since I don't know if I could secure permission to do that.
The problem I am running into is, in the CK, if I delete or edit his item and recipe entries, and then save them into a new mod, when I reload the CK, I find that all my stuff has been duplicated! And sure enough, in game I now have my changed items/recipes, and his O.P. version of the items...
Am I missing something here? Is it possible to edit/delete stuff from a different mod as a "patch" process rather than resorting to either editing the original mod, or completely copying the original mod, and saying, "hey guys use my mod instead no credit to the original author here!"?
