Which Elder scrolls game had the best art style?

Arena; Pulp Fantasy at it's finest. Featuring Chainmail bikinis, Bodybuilder men with form fitting armour, Goofy looking goblins and blue bricks.

Daggerfall; Last of the games to show women of generous proportions and questionable attire (mods ignored), Featuring Polo shirts, paper mache gargoyles, materials that only really change a weapon's colour, a lot of hoods,

Morrowind. A land of originality. Enter Fabulous architecture of no small quirk, wear fabulous clothes which are most of the time appropriate and functional. Begin the reign of de-sixualisation too.

Oblivion: other than potato faces, this was probably the most realistic of art styles attempted. Features swords that look usable and armour that looks wearable. Though it did have a knack of making all the regions look samey.

Skyrim: return once again to a land of grey, silly weapon proportions, entirely metal bows and overdesigned armour. It did reverse the potato faces though. (along with much of the original dwemer style)

anyway. which game did you think had the best art style. Try to ignore the graphical advantage the later games have over the earlier.

This one's tough... Arena and Daggerfall didn't really have an art style to call their own, and we're bog standard Fantasy.

Morrowind and Skyrim are probably the best out of the main series (ESO has some great styles in some areas, terrible in others, and Redguard was interesting though generally repetitive in its designs) in my opinion. They both maintained a degree of cultural style and identity and remained interesting... Morrowind probably did the best in overall style, but Skyrim did well in updating many of those styles to.newer graphics...

Oblivion was far and above the worst, though. There was nothing characterful, interesting, unique or even visually distinct about it, at least until Shivering Isles. Arena and Daggerfall can be forgiven for their era, but Oblivion was just lazy, and ugly. It's only redeeming quality, visually, was it's wilderness.

I think that Morrowind and Skyrim were the best, in terms of art style. But if I had to pick just one I would pick Morrowind, mainly because of its architecture. Morrowind had a lot of cultural diversity and that was reflected in the diversity of its architecture. There was no mistaking who controlled which towns on Vvardenfell: you could tell at a glance just by looking at its architecture. And the floating Ministry of Truth and Ghostgate wall were amazing sights to behold.

It wasn't a realistic game, but it had style.
