Is this series any good? I just noticed a new one on Steam. Just wondering if anyone would recommend it.

to answer your question on the tales franchise, I am a big fan (its probably one of my favorite JRPG franchises).. it has some really great games in it (Phantasia, Destiny, Symphonia, Abyss, Vesperia, Xillia 2), has some average-quality games (Xillia, Hearts, Destiny 2).. it also has some downright horrible games (Legendia, Dawn of the new world, Graces)



the one you saw on Steam was likely http://store.steampowered.com/app/351970/, comes out October i believe but is available for pre-ordering atm.. may not be the best place to start in this specific franchise, from what I have read they are really overdoing it with all the DLC in this one. Mystic Artes (which are your characters signature Finishing Moves) are apparently DLC, the full ending is apparently DLC, and as are Skits (skits are small mini-scenes that provide character Interaction, comedic relief, and important info about the world and plot)..

however, if enough people pre-order Zestiria via steam, they are apparently going to give them http://store.steampowered.com/app/372360/... while Symphonia's Combat and graphic style is kinda outdated at this point, it has some of the best written characters and plot in the series (at the beginning it will feel like your standard cliche "your the chosen one, go save the word!" type plot, but further in you will find it is so much more).. actually, Symphonia is what my Avatar is from

Well, this series is a bit special to me, as it's how I've met my girlfriend of over 5 years. And I've been a member of the official, and then unofficial ToS forums. So, I'm a bit biased here when I say that it's the best JRPG franchise there is.

I can't finish it due to Nifskope lacking plain text editing and not wanting to redo all the fields over again just to figure out why it looks right in the editor and not the game. I seriously need help with it.

i would say most of its games are certainly better than Final Fantasy at this point.. but considering some of the decisions square has made lately, thats not saying much


however at the same time, i am not happy about some of the decisions that they have done with Tales either..

and that is downright amazing dude.. probably one of the most memorable spells in the series (then again, that may be because it was the first spell shown, during Phantasia's prologue)
