Question about skilling

Post » Thu Jul 09, 2015 6:56 am

Hi.

Two simple questions:

1. will i make stronger potions just by leveling up the Alchemy skill (without using any perks on the Alchemy skill tree)?

and,

2. does that applies to any other skill? (one hand attacks are stronger just by leveling up One-Hand skill - without using perks, light armor is stronger just by leveling... etc.)

thank you very much,

adir.

Yes to both. Leveling up your skills will improve them without perks.

One needs to be careful, though, as leveling up one or two skills way above your others will make the game a little tougher. The creatures are based on your character's level and if you level up 5 or 6 times using Alchemy or another "craft skill", your combat skills are not on par with the creatures you will be facing :)

thanks man.

I actually noticed that no matter where I go, creatures are stronger and stronger, haha.

One thing is so annoying with Bathesda - The information you gave me or any other informatino that is connected to the game procedure is not written anywhere. arghh!

Leveling illusion, conjuration, restoration, destruction and alteration will only reduce spell cost though :/

Yeah, leveling magic skills only reduce magicka costs which is a bit stupid.

All other skills become stronger as they level up. Combat skills do more damage, crafting skills create stronger items, etc.

Welcome to the forums!

UESP wiki is a superb resource for game info. It has tons on info about Skyrim, ranging from maps to game mechanics, stats, even quest walkthroughs. You can easily look up info you want while avoiding anything you might consider a spoiler. Here's the link: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Skyrim

With alchemy espessially, it's the perks that unfortunately provide the most improvement. A skill level of 100 alone provides just a 25% improvement to a potion's base value. You can use enchanted apparel to help a little, but with such low starting levels without the perks the enchantments are less effective.

Combat skills are a little better, providing 50% improvement from a skill level of 100 alone.

Thanks. undoubyly a great site.

But i'm talking about tips which help you understand the game while playing.

For example - I had no idea that i have to eat an ingrediant to know its effect - just did by mistake.

why can't they write those "mini information tips" when you as a player bump into this situations?

They do - just when the game loads itself between one place and another.

Again, I had now idea that Archery is getting stronger just by leveling up. I haven't noticed, just after damn two months of playing, when it was written in the waiting screen.

hope they will do so in the next game.
