Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Post » Sat Jul 18, 2015 5:07 pm

In the Fallout 4 forums, there's been several discussions over weather or not it's immoral to "enslave" an android that is essentially Sapient.

So, decided to move the discussion here to ask a bit more of a fundamental question- can an Android (defined here as any AI capable of flawlessly passing the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turing_test) be considered a person? Should they be?

Let's have at it! Peacefully, that is!

Maybe, would it have a sense of itself as an individual? Have it's own thoughts, emotions etc?

If not, then it's just an intelligent machine. I guess it's kinda the difference betwen being human-like and being "human".

Not sure if Turing Test is sufficient to judge if it is sapient or not. But if it is, it's life, doesn't matter what hardware it runs on is still my opinion

Blame Mass Effect for it :hehe:

Seems like other people have wondered this a bit too :lmao:

Yeah, unfortuantly there's no test (that I know of) that goes deeper than the Turing Test.
