Okay, I've nosed around every page I can find...

Dug through every sticky forum tips post and help file I can locate...

Hovered over every visible button and read every tooltip that pops up...

And I can't for the life of me find the Private Messaging system. Maybe I've looked right at it, I dunno. I'm sure I'll facepalm at myself once someone points me in the right direction.

But at the moment, for all I can tell I'm the victim of some sort of hazing.


So if someone would be so kind as to send me along the way to facepalming and going "Duuuuh, there it is!" I'd be quite delighted.

Click on someone's name, and hit "send a private message.

Or click the 'Messenger' link up in the bar at the top of the page (the transparent one that follows you around if you haven't modified the theme).

Hmmm...when I click a name, it goes to their profile and having scoured several of those I've yet to see any "send a private message" option.



Oboy. Hehehehe...only "transparent-ish" bar at the top has my name on the left with "Settings Friends Ignored Logout ?" with Search, Advanced, and Member on the right- with "Member" running off the right side of the page.

I haven't deliberately or knowingly modified anything, though that doesn't rule out my having tripped over a button somewhere.


Beginning to suspect an increasing likelihood of the "hazing" option here...albeit maybe hazing myself somehow. I'm reminded of that sequence from Creepshow: "Verrill luck's always in, ya spell that luck B-A-D..."


EDIT: :facepalm: :facepalm: :facepalm: Yup...nosed into settings, unchecked "disable personal messenger," and whaddya know!

I see you got it to work anyway, but you have to click the little box with an arrow going out of it that's to the right of the name, not the name itself.

Got it to work anyway, and just as I'd suspected I was being hazed...by my own doing. :hehe:

Now that it shows up at all, I've managed to locate multiple paths in (click name, "send me a message" on profile, shortcut from the button labeled "icon" to right of the name, etc) now that they're actually visible.

Thanks all, got it covered now I believe. At least until later...I'm usually good for a "duuurrrr" question from time to time.
