Really good post apocalyptic movies:
the day after (1983) ----- post-apoc nuclear world.
testament (1983) ----- **** must see, after ''THREADS (1984). Another realistic look of a post-apoc nuclear world.
the quiet earth (1985) ---- ***** must see, a man is alone on earth after ''project flashlight'' which is... probably some kind of governement project like the manhattan project, that made everyone disappear.
threads (1984) -realistic look at nuclear war- ----- ****TOTALLY MUST SEE if you want to feel what really IS a post-nuclear war world, without power armor. Best one to get a feel for a real nuclear fallout. Slow to begin but worth it **********
Colossus - the forbin project (1970) -----******about nuclear war, two supercomputers taking over the world during the cold war. America VS russia... *must see
Fail-safe (1964) -----****** american pilots are ordered to nuke moscow during the cold war... but the order was an error. This may lead to nuclear war. *must see
letters from a dead man (Pisma myortvogo cheloveka (1986)). ------ I would say *must see, if you, again, really want to feel what is the post-apoc nuclear world. Subtitles.
a boy and his dog (1975) ---- kinda weird, but still very good. A boy and his dog living in a post-apoc ''mad max'' world
Post-apoc, but not directly related to the nuclear war:
the last man on earth (1964) ------ everyone turned zombie, with only one man that still is normal, living in his house, living a everyday very stressful survival life. post-apoc feel.
the omega man (1971) ------ remake of the above, both are good.
28 days later (2002) ---- virus post-apocalyptic, very good imo
28 weeks later (2007) ---- follow-up of above
the day of the triffids (1981) ----- everyone turns blind after a ''meteor shower''... feels like a post-apoc world
the divide (2011) ---- a few survivors of a nuclear attack are hidding in a basemant. This is the only place you will see in this movie, with all the tension that goes with it.
