uGrids to load

Is it safe to use uGridsToLoad=7 or higher in skyrim.ini? I've heard this is the only way to properly increase view distance but also that it may cause corrupted saves. Any experiences with this you could share would be helpful.

As far as I know as soon as you change it and saved the game with that save will be baked with uGrids7. I believe there is a mod that might be able to change it back.

Having a higher uGrid setting will put an impact on performance and could possibly cause stability issues.

I've heard 7 is pretty stable, and I picked up the SKSE plugins that are supposed to make any setting work but I just added a bunch of mods and I'm worried that if I CTD I won't be able to nail it down to a mod or due to .ini tweaks. Problem is, if you don't alter the ugrid setting right from the start you can't really do it later.
