Sheathing weapon and randomly opening menus during combat

Post » Sat Aug 08, 2015 1:15 pm

This is driving me nuts. I've tried new controllers, changed settings on my TV and during almost every fight, menus randomly pop up and my character keeps sheathing weapons. It's now at a point where my character is sheathing weapons without me even pressing anything. Could this be input lag from my TV?

Do you have issues with other games?

So far, just with Skyrim. I'm playing on a Samsung 525D, 32 inch. I've tried renaming my TV to a PC, game mode, tweaked picture settings and the controls still go bonkers whenever I engage in combat. Favorite menu popping up, switching weapons, you name it.

I do not think it has anything to do with the TV.

It might be something with the game if other games have no issues.

Have you tried creating a new character and see if it is happening there.

I do not have a PS3. Might have to wait until a PS3 player comes around if there is any way to clear the game cache.

Is the game installed to the hard drive.

Thanks for your concern. I ended up restoring the PS3's file system by going into Safe Mode. So far, so good. No more annoying random menu pop ups and sheathing weapons during combat.

Here is the link for anyone with a PS3 experiencing this annoyance.

One other thing that sometimes occurs is when the anologue sticks on a worn controller don't centre properly. Effectively giving an input command that you aren't intending. If that is/was the case you might also notice things like your char wanting to turn or walk even after you've let go. It could also similarly be a sticky shoulder button, check that they click in and pop out quickly.

I hope your fix worked, but if not, suspect controller wear :)
