ApachiiSkyHair Question

Post » Tue Aug 11, 2015 8:52 pm

Just a question about it. I know one version (female I think, or the total pack) of the hairs is super high poly and high resolution. Unfortunately, some mods I'd like to use (followers, etc.) REQUIRE one particular hair from certain packages of Apachii. (Like this one I was interested in http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31239/? )

Are these hairs ridiculously taxing? Would installing the package for one mod fry my computer? (I've got an R7 and R9 Radeon card, but only 2GB Video RAM)

If it's only one or a couple of followers who are going to use the hairs, it won't even be noticeable. It's different if you use hires hair replacers for ALL NPCs, plus hires body textures, plus hires armor replacers etc etc.

Is the specific hair the mod uses one of the high-poly ones? If not, then there won't be any effect at all. If they're not on the screen, the polys don't matter.

I have the hair pack and they vary considerably in size. Some hairs are simple, and use the textures to do all the work.

Really? Good grief I've been holding back on mods that require it, thinking it would fry my card. XD

Unfortunately, there's no easy way to look at a picture of a character and know if the hair is high- or low-poly, as a good normal map can make a lot of difference. But if you know which model is involved, just looking at the size of the .nif file tells a story.

Only one of them has the warning of High Poly, and that is the woman's one. So I'm only downloading the 1.5 (low rez, shiny) and the male one I need.

That specific mod you linked looks like it gives you a choice of hair, and it's likely that at least one of those is low-poly.
