CK Crashes when I edit a cell

Post » Thu Aug 13, 2015 12:19 pm

I have a test cell I've been using as a general laboratory for a few weeks now.

Last night I had a CK crash. I wasn't surprised at the time: I was link-reffing objects, got confused and probably confished the CK in the process.

The trouble is, ever since then the CK crashes when I try to edit the cell. It's odd because the cell loads, but when I try to scroll back from the coc marker it crashes after a second or so

I did get around the problem earlier today by loading a different cell first, then viewing a different object in the cell. So I have a posible workaround - it's not clear how reliable it will be. Still I need to fix this. I can't have to start the CK half a dozen times every time I want to make an edit.

Any ideas? I'm tending towards it being file corruption from the crash. Probably not of the esp, since I wasn't trying to write that out at the time. But I'm not sure what else or how to go about diagnosing the problem.

Any ideas, kind people?

[edit]

The workaround is not reliable, it turns out. Crash is when I zoom out and then pan the camera it seems.

Mod is clean. No deletions or dirty refs.

It may have been a mod order issue. MO's built-in loot sorted my mods and left a few of them in a slightly strange order at the end of the list and my mod priority didn't reflect that. Fixed the ordering and I'm currently editing the cell in question. Fingers crossed.

Custom made cell or vanilla edited? I place my bet on a messed up NavMesh.

Custom made - and I was editing navmesh just beforehand.

Now that you mention it, it was very odd. I checked the mesh and it reported an error. But the faulty triangle wasn't one I'd edited - it was in an area I never touched. I deleted the problematic tri, found there was another identical one underneath check again and found no further errors.

It's not so complex a cell that I can't redo the navmesh I suppose. I did just get an edit session in, but it still crashed after a while. And it's been really stable as well lately. I don't want to go back to the Bad Old Days.
