LOOT

A plugin load order optimiser for TES IV: Oblivion, TES V: Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

Introduction

Setting the right load order for your mods is a crucial step to enjoying a stable modded game. The Load Order Optimisation Tool (LOOT) can help with that, by providing automated load order sorting that's simple to use and fully customisable.

While sorting, LOOT checks for load order errors such as incompatibilities and missing requirements, and notifies you of any issues that it detects. It also provides thousands of plugin-specific messages such as usage notes and bug warnings, to help keep your game healthy.

LOOT can be downloaded from its http://loot.github.io/. Unstable snapshot builds may also be available https://www.dropbox.com/sh/scuvwwc6ovzagmd/AAD1TodBAwGQTuV1-4Z2d0sCa?dl=0.

Right, I'm back from holiday, and now I have to quote everything manually since that last thread got locked.

Filed as https://github.com/loot/loot/issues/476

Could you https://github.com/loot/loot.github.io/wiki/How-To-Report-Issues-Helpfully your LOOT debug log?

Essentially yes.

Could I get a debug log for this?

Are you installing LOOT using the installer, or the manual archive?

LOOT shouldn't be opening in your browser, can I get a debug log (LOOTDebugLog.txt) from you?

Please upload your LOOTDebugLog.txt to a file sharing site, eg. Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive.

Could be a bug in LOOT's API, could be a bug in Bash's usage of it. Try reporting it to the Utumno (the Bash dev), if he can't find an issue with his usage, I'll take a look at the API code.

Well that's a PITA. Hopefully the new forums will at least have the 200 post limit removed, otherwise I might be better off searching for somewhere else to provide LOOT support from.

Why? Applying a sorted load order does exactly the same thing for those games.

I don't think so. Not for FNV, at least. But I can no longer verify because the GECK crashes when I launch the editor through MO.

Oblivion, FO3 and FONV all have load orders based on plugin timestamps, so setting the load order sets those timestamps, and all Redate Plugins does is set the plugin timestamps to match the current load order, so it would have no effect.

I have an odd situation. In Mod Organizer, if I unckeck "Force-enable game files" unbder the Settings > Workarounds tab and then run LOOT from within MO and apply a sort, then when I return to MO the Skyrim.esm and Update.esm are unchecked. Is this a LOOT issue or a MO problem?

It's probably them not being put in the plugins.txt load order file that is causing some confusion. Skyrim.esm and Update.esm are always loaded, so it doesn't really matter.

A new snapshot build is up, this updates the Boost, libgit2 and CEF dependencies: the latter two might fix the masterlist update and text mangling bugs reported. I did experience crashing on launch that mysteriously stopped when I rebuilt the app while trying to debug it, so also let me know if the same happens to you.

Welcome back ( my eldest just came back from Canada a week ago so you may have crossed paths somewhere )

Anyway back on topic : You're choice for forum needs but a suggestion - http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/

Modding Projects \ Works in Progress \

Now home to TES5Edit \ TES5LODGen \ NifSkope Dev \ Wrye Bash \ Mator Smash .. aswell as the Unofficial Patch Project and all Arthmoors projects ( recently including an Oblivion section of the forum too )

---------------

In other news I got a new laptop so future testing is Win 10 64bit across the board here, I no longer have any other OS to test with.

See this topic for any catching up with Win 10 you may need and keeping it optimal for gaming with less background crap going on ..

I will just have to leave that setting checked, it causes all sorts of problems when those esms are unchecked.

Hey wrinklyninja.

Updated to snapshot 0.8.0-5 and it seems that the https://github.com/loot/loot/issues/451 / http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1519842-rel-loot-thread-19/?p=24030506 is back, the plugin cards flicker once again.

Ack, I saw that, thought "I need to fix this", then promptly forgot about it... I probably just need to change some z indexes.

EDIT: Fixed, no snapshot build though.

Alright.

Hmm, is there an issue with "Immersive Weapons.esp" within Skyrims masterlist? http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/27644 to the Nexus page.

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/loot/skyrim/v0.7/masterlist.yaml:
- name: 'Immersive Weapons.esp' tag: - Delev - Relev after: - 'AmazingFollowerTweaks.esp' dirty: - crc: 0x2eae1f9d util: *dirtyUtil itm: 1 - crc: 0xa2a9c008 util: *dirtyUtil itm: 2 - crc: 0x3A0B75F5 util: *dirtyUtil itm: 2

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/loot/skyrim/v0.8/masterlist.yaml:
- name: 'Immersive Weapons.esp' tag: - Delev - Relev after: - 'AmazingFollowerTweaks.esp' dirty: - crc: 0x2eae1f9d util: *dirtyUtil itm: 1 - crc: 0xa2a9c008 util: *dirtyUtil itm: 2 - crc: 0x3A0B75F5 util: *dirtyUtil itm: 2 - crc: 0x0E41D31D util: *dirtyUtil itm: 49
Since the switch to branch 0.8, LOOT reports that Immersive Weapons.esp is having 49 ITM's.
      - crc: 0x0E41D31D util: *dirtyUtil itm: 49
However, nor with the official version of xEdit, 3.1.1, neither with the very latest snapshot, http://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/3750-wipz-tes5edit/, am I able to find any ITM's in that plugin whatsoever.

So the only guess would be that these 49 ITM's were found with an old version of xEdit, right? Whoever reported this value should update xEdit on his pc .. in any case, this value of 49 ITM's doesn't seem to be accurate anymore, there is no need to clean this plugin, if it is version 1.5 that is (and therefore has a crc value of 0x0E41D31D).

Slightly off-topic, but I'm testing Win10 on my old laptop now, to decide whether to upgrade my production laptop, and whether or not to do the same for my family.

In summary:

  • The privacy defaults are insane. The actual data collection doesn't seem to be any worse than an Android smartphone though.
  • The privacy settings are too spread-out, but at least they're there, and pretty granular, so kudos for that.
  • There are no uncensored words that can describe how bad of an idea WiFi Sense is, or its defaults. If someone using Win10 manually connects to your network, you can't stop them sharing its password with their friends without changing your SSID, and even then it's not foolproof. Madness.
  • The Start menu is wasted potential, too little space for both the programs list and the tiles, not helped by the former's letter headings (which should be in a side column to save vertical space, I think, if they're there at all). I get the impression that search (which has been improved) is what they're pushing people to use instead. It works well, but sometimes I don't know what I'm looking for.
  • Control Panel as well as Settings app is confusing and lazy. Perhaps not everything is suitable for moving to the latter, but certainly more could have been. At least Control Panel has been de-emphasised.
  • It feels considerably faster than Win8, which made my old laptop very painful to use.
  • Some of the "Modern" app UIs waste a bit too much space, e.g. the music player doesn't need the progress bar to take up so much vertical room, it could lie on top of the controls like how (IIRC) Spotify and Google Music do it.
  • Virtual desktops! Finally.

The laptop's battery life tops out at a whopping 8 minutes. Yes, minutes, and that's about the same as it did before, IIRC.

Currently feeling cautiously optimistic that I will make the plunge, as the only major issue I've noted above that I can't resolve (WiFi sense friends of manually-connected friends sharing) is one that would affect my network whether or not I used Win10 myself.
