It's terrifying! I looked out my door today, and somebody has stolen and entire mountain range! I live in the foothills of the Blue Mountains of Oregon, and today it is just a lot of blue, with no mountains at all! What's that got to do with this thread? Eh... nothing... but I was going to say that if you go into those missing mountains and take a walk in the forest, you will find very little brush or grass in many places. The pine needles fall and cover the ground, and grasses and weeds can't get enough sun and air to grow. Lodge pole pines grow so close together that not enough light actually gets to floor of the forest for most plants and brush to grow.
If the forest is NOT managed by forest service regulations, small forest fires occur on nature's schedule to wipe out all of the debris that is laying there, leaving the forest floor clean for many years. If the Forest Service enforces its regulations, huge fires occur frequently, and destroy everything in thousands of acres, trees included. Then the standing dead wood with no needles becomes fodder for even bigger fires later on, and allows brush to grow where it naturally wouldn't...
I've never seen such a spell...
