Then today happened and it got worse. I was talking to my coworker and the subject ended up getting sidetracked to a sarcastic conversation of the state of America, which naturally made me shout out "We're all doomed! Idiocracy was right!" We all laughed but then my coworker for an unrelated reason asked me how you spell Idiocracy, immediately I asked them if they knew it was a movie and they did not and have never seen it. Another coworker was so taken aback by this abominable fact that they are bringing in their copy on DVD.
This made me start thinking of all those movies that I consider staples of cultured society. Movies that if I heard people hadn't seen I would be aghast and dismayed. Movies that as soon as I find out someone hasn't seen it, I make sure they see it. The list I came up with was:
1. Ghostbusters
2. Star Wars original Trilogy
3. Indiana Jones 1 and 3
4. Idiocracy
5. Office Space
6. How To Train Your Dragon
7. Top Gun
While I consider movies like Citizen Kane, 12 Angry Men, The Lego Movie, The Shawshank Redemption, Hotel Rwanda, and Terminator 2 also pretty high up there, I'm willing to forgive them not being seen.
Related is that I personally find 2001: A Space Odyssey to be a terrible movie and don't enjoy it at all.
Since this is a video game forum I'm sure some also feel so passionately about video games. Personally, I'm always willing to lend someone a Pokemon game.
