Fallout 3 Disc Install stuck on MenuVoices.bsa

Post » Thu Aug 27, 2015 3:05 pm

I installed Fallout 3 two years ago from the same disk. After a while, I uninstalled it.

Now I want to play it, and I started installing it, but the install is always stuck at MenuVoices.bsa.

I don't get any error messages.

Any suggestions?

Tried copying the disk to a folder on desktop, leave disk in drive, run setup from desktop?

Disk read errors tend to show if the problem exists while copying.

Steam is another option for installing. The game is rather cheap there now.

Ok I'll try moving the files and running the setup.

I won't buy the game on Steam... I'm saving for Fallout 4.

It doesn't work. Data4.cab won't copy. (It can't be read.)

If you have some comp hardware savy ... I would change out or install a second dvd drive.

I have had damaged disks able to install from different disk drives.

But like Michele said ... the easier path may be just downloading.

See if someone you know will let you try on their comp .... to see if the problem persists.

Have you tried installing the disk in "Safe" mode? You would usually have to use "Safe" mode when installing Disk 2, anyway. Also, when installing from a disk, you should not use the default installation location.

You can get the disc resurfaced, as long as there is no damage to the data layer of the disc. Retail stores like Gamestop should have a machine that can do that, and may resurface the disc for a fee.
