Wanna try FANV but I need to do it modded

Post » Fri Aug 28, 2015 12:25 am

Hello all,

First post on the Fallout forums. I tried FANV for about an hour about a year ago but I could not get around the graphics looking really dull and boring. But now I want to give it a new try..

I played Skyrim (which suffers from the same graphical issues that FANV does) with a ton of mods to make it look good and so on.

So now, my question.. Which "mod-setup" is the equivalent of Skyrims http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/30936/? configuration? See link for reference...

Edit: Oh, and what are the essential mods like unofficial patches and so on? /edit

I hope you guys can toss me some ideas! Thanks in advance!

Well, Nexus is full of ENB presets for FNV too, i never bother, as they do nothing but murder framerates :hehe: And FNV doesn't get too good framerates to begin with, regardless of your hardware :meh:

Personally i have high-resolution textures
NMC as the base: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/43135/?
and then Ojo Bueno packs on top of it: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/39755/?
and then Nevada Skies: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35998/?
to getting rid of the orange tinting and improve the lighting. I find that makes the game look nice enough, while still remaining (mostly) playable.

And YUP is the unoffcial patch you'll want to use, only bug fixes, nothing more: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/51664/?

As i have implied, FNVs engine svcks greasy donkey balls, so try to limit the number of scripted mods you have, and the game will start bugging out at a lot lower number of plugins than Skyrim. For me it's only around 150 (the technical limit is 253).

Speaking of which, I remember in skyrim there was some "tools" to use for MCM menu's and such, are there anything like that in FANV?

Modding the game is half the fun! :)

Follow up question, I assume Mod Organizer and LOOT is the way to go?

The actual content is better, it's just the engine that svcks :hehe:

And yes, MCM was originally created for New Vegas: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42507/?

Also, it won't hurt to use New Vegas Stutter Remover: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34832/?
And New Vegas Anti Crash: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/?

LOOT is good for New Vegas too, as is Mod Organizer, though personally i prefer Wrye Bash: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/35003/?

Oh right, and there is a STEP guide for New Vegas: http://wiki.step-project.com/User:EssArrBee/FalloutNewVegas
Might give some good ideas on other mods and tools to use.
