for the past hour or so, I have been running around town and checking the Inn and the Traders and I have not been able to locate the butler to get a job in the castle,,,,what gives,, am I missing something??

Shum gro-Yarug is usually located at Skingrad County Main Hall, but you can also find him at West Weald Inn at 10:00 AM or at the Colovian Traders at 12:00 PM.

this is why I activated the new topic,,because I can't find him at the castle, at the west weald inn nor the colovian traders..Any suggestions?? thanks

Shum gro-Yarug has a tendency to fall off Skingard bridges, to his death (clumsy orc). You might want to look under the bridges.

If you are on the PC and find his corpse you can open the console with the tilde key (~), enter the command "resurrect", then close the console with the tilde key again.

or if you don't find the corpse you can use the following commands:

prid 0002C466
resurrect 1
enable

If you're not on a PC, you can still do the theives guild quest by getting arrested or sneaking into jail. Some more options:

But I prefer the Slop Drudge option if you can find Shum.

Couldn't find the Orc's body under any bridges but found a way to subvent that quest on X-Box. I hate going to jail because you always lose skill levels. Zap the jailer with immobilize spell. He returns to the barracks so fast you can't catch him. His bed is last one on the right. Pick his pocket, jump over the rail. go thru the seceret passage in the cell block and free the prisoner. IF you're stopped resist until you recover the book and run like crazy,..Worked for me. Thanks
