saddest ending(s) in video games?

so, I have been replaying a bit of Red Dead Redemption recently (i love a good western), and I forgot how sad the games ending is.. I suppose in a way, what John did at the end could be considered his "Redemption", but its just something i didn't expect, to the point i thought i must have triggered a flag for a bad end or something...

what did you find to be some of the saddest endings in gaming?

I thought Bioshock Infinite's ending was sad and the Burial at Sea DLC had an ending just as sad. Both those also blew my mind but sad non the less.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klonoa:_Door_to_Phantomile to the PS1 comes to mind. A childish colorful platformer, and yet it's ending is a tearful one.

Spoiler
Klonoa beat the big baddie and rescue Lephise, and then Lephise sing her Song of Rebirth to heal the land and get rid of all things that doesn't belong there. Then Klonoa's best friend, Huepow, tell him they aren't really friends at all. They are all fake memories implanted into Klonoa when he was brought here from another world to help, he doesn't belong here, and now the song will force him to leave.

Gears of war 3 when Adam Fenix Takes the imulsion to save everyone from dying that was pretty sad, Also in Assassin creed 3 when Desmond Sacrifices himself to save the whole world that was very sad.

Have you got the actual ending afterwards, The one that's a stranger mission with Jack's character? I felt that was way more satisfying after the downer of first ending.

I thought the ending on the PS1 Metal Gear Solid was kinda sad. All that death and destruction and Snake and the male scientist were the only ones left.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. But yes, this one is definitely up there in one of the most saddest.

You guys already named some pretty good ones like RDR and Burial at Sea. However, I have to say the ending to Telltale's The Walking Dead probably hit me the most of any game. The second season was pretty sad as well when:

Spoiler
When Kenny leaves Clementine and Alvin Jr. Doesn't even look back.

As did I, but

Spoiler
Ken Levine confirmed in email correspondence to an acquaintance that she didn't actually die in the latter; I suspect that may have been a change of heart and he was somewhat vague about the exact details (my preferred explanation would've been the nearby Vita-Chamber that Suchong had apparently been experimenting with using her DNA sample, but the explanation was just some random comment about "her powers"). Though the ending still manages to be rather something-or-other in spite of it not being quite as terminal as I'd feared.
