Tethering a horse to a cart; mesh issues

Post » Sun Sep 13, 2015 12:27 am

Hi all,

I have been making a custom cart/carriage for Skyrim and have run into a snag. Using the cartandhorsetether script, I can tether pretty much any horse with any carriage, except mine. Under the tethertohorse script wiki, I verified that my cart has havok enabled, I created a custom chassis, I am using the wheels and front bar that came with prisonercarriage01, and the collision mesh that came with it and it all works fine. The problem is the horse doesn't seem to constrain to the cart like the script descibes it will, and in-game the horse will leave the cart behind once mounted.

I feel like there is a setting set incorrectly or perhaps my cart's chassis is missing some details or naming system that was not specified? I have BSX flags set to Havok enabled and Havok materials are assigned where appropriate.

I can barely find any information on this specific topic, and creating custom collision meshes and constraints has been a journey in itself. I have compared my cart to vanilla ones and other custom carts I've found that I can tether and there's no discernable difference.

Any help on this would be invaluable.

since you say it leaves the cart behind once mounted, maybe the cart's tethered to the saddle bone and you just can't mount and tether at the same time?

just speculating anyway... :-)

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately I don't think that's the case, because the script constrains the horse and cart on cell load and without mounting I can tell whether they move as one or not. I load a new cell everytime to ensure the script and horse/cart setup is fresh and sometimes after Havok settling my horse and cart are separate before I even reach them. This does not happen with the others, since like I said they successfully constrain together.
