Removing markers from housemods?

Post » Sun Sep 13, 2015 1:21 am

I like to roleplay in skyrim. That's why i like to have only the major cities as Black markers when i start a new game. Sadly 99.9% of all fantastic house mods puts White or Black map markers on for instant fast travel option, when you start a new game. That's why i never used a single house mod i my game, though i really, really would like to since there are so many amazing mods out there.

My question:

I never used TesEdit before. How do i remove markers from housemods on the map (not Hud)? Or even better: a mod that hides all but major city markers from new games map (not Hud)?

Hope someone can help me out...

Can't you just ignore it and, you know, not use it before you reach the house yourself? :P

What you can do, instead of modding the mod, is open the console and launch the command

tmm 0

(tmm standing for "toggle map markers"). It will remove all the map markers on your map. If you roleplay, you might not bother much about map markers disappearing.

Btw, mine doesn't add a visible map marker at start. Link in my signature. ;)

Map Markers can be made visible or not, according to the http://www.creationkit.com/Map_Marker.

You could either use the CK to change it, or TES5Edit. (You could also use the CK to make your own little map mod if you wanted)

Some instructions for TES5Edit, since you've never used it before. It's quick and easy:

* load the esp in xEdit
* expand Worldspace records
* expand records under the name Tamriel - keep digging to the Persistent level
* look for the Map Marker entry (look for any placed object with the name of the house)
* scroll down in the record to find FNAM - Map Flags. The value will say Visible.
* right click on the Visible value - select Edit. (Say yes you know what you're doing when asked) A box will pop up with several toggle-able values. Untick Visible.
* close xEdit, this will automatically save your changes.

* repeat 8 billion times for every map marker in the game and all your mods :-)

Thanks, had no idea how to do it before. Just installed TES5Edit and start editing now. I'll look into it, and see how time consuming the process is, and then fix as much of my housing mods as possible.
