Skryim cannot save or load Win 10

I am having a big problem with Skryim. A little background:

A Windows 10 update crashed my computer, so I had to reinstall windows, deleting everything off of the HD. Skyrim worked on Windows 10 prior to this.

I run all of my games off the slave drive (D:\) because my SSD is only 120 GB.

At first, I just redownloaded the game from Steam, installed it, ran it once, then restored the backup with all of my mods, and tried to play. On the first screen, it didn't even give me the option to Load a game, just start a new game.

"Oh Crap!" I thought. So I exited out the game, deleted everything Skyrim related (I have a zipped backup of Skyrim so this isn't a big deal) and then redownloaded from Steam. I ran the game as if I had never played Skyrim before, went through that incredibly long intro, played for about 15 minutes, saving several times. The game said it was saving. I saved a game through the console, no error messages. I tried to load a game, it showed no games had been saved.

So, I exited the game and went to C:\Users\\My Documents\Skyrim\Saves and it shows nothing. The game just didn't save anything.

Ok, I took an old save that should have just loaded the game right after I originally started the game, and put it in the "Saves" folder. Open the game, the "Load" button is greyed out.

I used the google, and I tried a number of options. I verified the game cache, I toggled Steam Cloud backups on and off, I tried re-installing completely again. I deleted the My Documents\Skyrim folder and created a new one manually, I right clicked on the folder and made sure I had full control over the folder (I did). I right clicked the folder and created a new usergroup with my account name and gave that usergroup full control over the folder. I created a Homegroup and allowed it to share My Documents across the network.

I've made sure Skyrim Launcher and TESV.exe run as administrator for all users. I made sure my anti-virus program had Skyrim as a trusted program. It didn't, so I added it as a trusted application, but that didn't fix the problem.

I thought maybe it was driver related, so I made sure my video card driver was updated. That all seems in order.

I am at my wit's end. Here are the two things I am trying now:

1) I am going to install Skyrim on my SSD into the program files folder, to see if that helps.

2) I am also downloading another game from Steam to see if this is happening with all my games or just Skyrim.

I will keep you posted if this works, because I bet I'm not the only person to have this problem.

If anybody else has some ideas, I am willing to try anything. This is such a stupid problem to have. A couple of things. I have restarted after trying each new thing. I have replayed the intro and tried to save a new game after trying each new thing. I think I have the intro memorized. Did you know it coincides quite nicely with "United States of Eurasia" by Muse? I learned that at midnight last night.

Remember, this is just vanilla Skyrim at this point. Here are my computer specs (it's my own build):

AMD 6300 6 Core-Processor

16 GB RAM

AMD Radeon R9 200 series graphics card 4 GB VRAM

Windows 10, updated completely, booting to a 120GB SSD

Running as administrator

Let me know if you need to know anything else. Thanks in advance for your help.

Try looking in C:\Users\\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\Saves as Steam has been pointing them there like forever.

I am on Win 10 and have been running the game without problems.

Thanks for the reply. I have been fiddling with that folder trying to get something to work, but the game won't save. It says it's saving, and as the far as the game is concerned it thinks it is saving, but there are no *.ess files in the save folder.

And, I tried to download and save Skyrim in the Program files folder instead of my slave drive and it still doesn't save.

Any other ideas?
