First Timer - Interesting fact

Post » Tue Sep 22, 2015 10:31 am

This is my first real shot at Skyrim, and this time I am really in the right mood to play it. I am immersed in the game in the way I always wanted to be but could never manage to. Fortunately, until now. :)

An interesting random fact I noticed and thought it should be shared (in case it hasn't already): I came across an NPC called Sondas Drenim in Darkwater Crossing, and I am 100% sure he has the same voice actor as Joshua Graham, a main character from Fallout New Vegas DLC Honest Hearts. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm a huge fan of this particular voice, among the best I've seen in video game voice acting.

Thank you! I'm kind of proud of myself that I got it right :D

I would recognize that voice anywhere, though. Amazing voice and work on both games.

I agree, he is one of my favorites. He also does the voice of another Skyrim character

Spoiler
Erandur in Dawnstar.

The Burned Man lives!

I just noticed some dark elves in Windhelm also are voiced by him. That deep baritone really goes well with the Dark Elf appearance.

He voices many of the male dunmers in Skyrim. He also did some voices for the Bioshock and Dead Space series among many others. His voice is awesome and very distinctive.

I remember there was one of these Skyrim haters who made fun of his voice and thought it didn't fit the dark elves. I was like "wtf, it's much better than the cheesy Batman growl from Morrowind"

I say Szarabajka has the ultimate dunmer voice of any TES game.

I think he has a great voice, to voice a Dunmer. He also did some great work in Dragon Age: Origins.

Heh, I noticed the similarity but in the opposite direction. I played Skyrim before New Vegas. When I met Graham I was like.... Erandur? That you under those bandages?

He's got a good voice, but I'm not a fan of the accent - it seems too cheesy-English, if that makes sense. The MW Dunmer voices felt much more alien, which fit the world. In Skyrim, we have British Dunmer and everyday-Joe-American Argonians (the males, anyway).

I'm not keen on the accent he's using for the Dark Elves. I'm not quite sure what it's suposed to be. It sounds a bit like Norfolk + Cockney - that's dike Van Dyke cockney, rather than the genuine article.

I agree, he tries a bit too hard to sound British (he's American), I noticed he overspells the "a" at the end of some words to make it sound "British-ish" :D

Nonetheless, it is nice to see Bethesda gives such importance to voice acting as to keep the best and most recognizable voices from previous games. It becomes a trademark in itself :)

I'm American myself, so I only suspected it wasn't genuine British; couldn't tell for sure. But it does grow on you after awhile!

Um he's the guy who also played the cop in Dark Knight, the one who was left in the room with Joker who Joker taunts with, "How many of your friends have I killed?" Then takes him hostage.

Great actor all around, he was also in Argo. I've been aware of his voice work ever since he narrated Fear Nothing and Seize the Night by Dean Koontz in the late 90's. He also is from a town 1 suburb over from mine which I spent a lot of time in growing up. Dropped him an email about 12 years ago, responded too, nice guy, wish he would get bigger roles. He was in Sons of Anarchy and Angel as well. For those wanting to they should look up his IMDB.

Missed that. It's just I've been following his work for 15 years so I didn't even need the IMDB link. *grin* Anyway, yeah, the guy does a TON of voice work as well, very distinctive voice to be sure.

It's quite good most of the time but some words he says make me cringe like when he says "I" and it comes out like "oi"
