So I'm looking to upgrade my video viewing device. I'm looking between monitors and tvs but cant come to a clear conclusion of which would be "better". I mean I would like to get something at least 24" but it seems that would I would pay for a 24" monitor I could get a ~32" tv with similar stats.

Help or advice would be much appreciated.

I go with a TV (48"), as not only can i use it as my PCs display, but can play my consoles and watch TV on it as well

TV all the way. I have my gaming computer hooked up to a 46" LED TV with an awesome surround sound system and it makes the game soooooo much more amazing.

TV hands down. My tv is about 20 feet away from my pc, and I use a high quality HDMI cable and a switch so that when I want to play, I push the button and it is ported to the tv. When I want to watch tv, I do not have to do anything but make sure that the button is on the right switch. We had a problem with our old tv, and ended up getting a new one about 3 months ago, and now sport a nice LG 55" tv.

EDIT. I should also mention that I also have a surround sound for the pc, and I use a wired controller.

So, then put the TV in a different spot if possible. !!!!

A TV is bigger, so you will enjoy it a lot more...

However, a monitor is optimized for PC and gaming, consoles are optimized for HDTV.

So, 1080p monitor for close up. 1080p tv for far away. The pixel density is the definitive factor really.

For example, if you try to use Microsoft Word on a TV, it looks much worse, that having it on a Monitor. (A Monitor delivers a more clean crisper picture compared to a TV.)

Except that it depends what like of TV you will be using. TVs tend to have very high input lag versus monitors. !!!

lol, I wish I could. Currently my whole computer set up is in my walk-in closet. It's pretty much my "man cave".

Jeez, how much did that 20' HDMI cable run you? Those things get pricey quickly if you are getting a higher end one.

You dont want to be too close if you get a TV. Those are made to be viewed from a distance really. If you get too close you might notice a pixelation type effect. It does depend on the size of the TV.

Monitors can be viewed closer as they take up less space. They're made for desktop type environments.
