Hello all! I've decided to put this in segments to make it more to the point, and easier to read.
[The Idea]
During the lockpicking minigame, instead of moving your mouse to the "sweet spot", then holding a key for the lock to rotate, the new system I imagine would allow you to press/hold A or D to rotate the lock from left to right. Every time you hit the spot that isn't the "sweet spot", the pick gets pushed back a certain amount (configurable MCM?).
To clarify, if you are on the "sweet spot" then you tap A, the lock would rotate for a moment, then pause where you stopped rotating it. So you could have it 10% complete, and just sit there. If you want to move the mouse from that spot, you'd hold D until the lock was 0% rotated, then move it where you wanted, then hold A to rotate the lock again.
[My revelation]
All of this came to me when I glanced at the bottom of my screen and saw the tool-tip for picking locks, which said "A or D to pick" or something like that... And I thought to myself "I always just hold W... But it'd be cool if I had to use A and D "
[Last words]
I realize this probably won't become a thing. But I had to mention it, in case somebody else is a bit bored with the same old lockpicking mechanic.
(Maybe the old lockpicking mechanic could be used for different types of locks?)
Also, let me know if my explanations aren't clear, and I'll try to think of another way to describe what my idea is.
