He indicated a desire for me to take over in his place, and I've agreed, but... Do it like this: (Example)

GENERAL RULES
(specific to this competition)

No carriage based fast travel

The purpose of disallowing carriage fast travel for this competition is to make taking all those relatively minor TG "run n fetch" quests more challenging, worth the high points they've been given, and to give everyone cause to seriously consider if they really want dragons and shouts in their game or not. Remember, you are not REQUIRED to do any part of the Main Quest.

Magic:

alteration..................can not use perks................you can NOT use magic & spells

restoration...............can not use perks.................you can NOT use magic & spells

ENCHANTING NOTE:
You CAN use found or purchased weapons that have a soul trap enchantment, and you CAN recharge weapons using found or purchased, or filled soul gems. You CANNOT cast "Soul Trap" as a spell.

EXCEPTION: You CAN use any powers, abilities, or spells given you at the time of character creation such as flames, nighteye, summon familiar and so forth based on your race.

COMPANIONS:
You may have ONE companion, and any quest given companions you encounter for the duration of the associated quest.

Dynamic Difficulty:

While previous winners and high-scorers are encouraged to go with Legendary difficulty, in reality players may choose whatever difficulty they desire with the following rewards/consequences:

Legendary multiply total points by 1.25

Master multiply total points by 1.00

Expert multiple total points by .5

Adept multiply total points by .25

Apprentice and lower, multiply total points by 0 (basically you are auditing the competition, rather than really playing, but you can still be part of the fun and post character updates and such). For you highly competitive overachievers looking for every possible advantage, be sure to run that slider up to Legendary, eh?

Hours played: No restrictions

Every player can play the amount of hours he wants, from 7 am Pacific time September 12 to 7 am Pacific time September 26

Quests: Limited

Quests will be limited to a class (Ex: A mage can't do the thieves, dark brotherhood and the companions quest because that doesn't REALLY fit the class. The MQ falls into that category as well.). For round 6, that means no College of Winterhold quests, no Civil War quests, no Dark Brotherhood quests, no Companions quests. For those who want to play stealth assassins, take heart, we will have a competition just for you very soon.

Also, as it stands, my decision is to let the main quest run up to just after reporting back to Balgruuf having slain Mirmulnir at the Western Watchtower. The benefit is (as Rick pointed out) getting Lydia should you want her services, and the ability to gain shouts if you can manage to slay the dragons and priest kings guarding the walls.

The issue of archery and the thief/warrior stones has not been solved. I am not going to make a rule because there is no solution under the circumstances that really makes sense, so.. I will simply offer a recommendation. You have the option to choose whichever stone you want... the fact is that thief skills raise fairly quickly without the benfit of the thief stone while archery is much harder. Even though you're a thief, you may want to choose the Warrior stone, depending on whether you are on console or PC.

You also have the option to switch back and forth between stones, raising one set of skills, then raising the other. Finally, you can go get the Lover Stone, and settle for an overall 15% bonus. Do whatever you think will serve you best knowing that those who get archery under the thief stone will have at least a small advantage.

Kings, paupers, Pyramids, and cities, time erases all. Muddy bootprints are no exception. :)

That thing about the clean slate? Well, no matter how nasty today gets, tomorrow brings a new day...

Neil......Ah.....feeling a bit Phyllis offical are we?

You are so right. In my college youth I'd sometimes wander around the Church yard next to the college at break times. It was quiet and kinda melancholy in the way we Brits like to wallow in. Looking at the really old headstones where the writing was unreadable and covered in lichens, ivy and green moss. I sometimes pondered that the souls interred there generations ago had real lives, families, kids, hobbies and attitudes. Yet not a scrap of that remained....no one living could possibly know anything about them or what their lives meant. Just someone's meaningless great great grandfather.

The point is.....in the end.....it's all gone.....totally gone....except in a few very rare cases in human history where greatness or infamy carves a lasting cult memory for a couple of thousand years. But for real people, people like you and me, our goals and aspirations, our achievements, our loves and challengers are all wiped away in all too short a time.

So really my friend.....you see it matters not what we do or say or build or destroy today because tomorrow no one will know or give a crap.

Is that a good excuse to behave badly in life....NO of course not. Your soul is enriched by your experience and nature. If you believe in anything beyond the harsh reality of simply being alive, then there is great merit in living a life of kindness free from the shackles of guilt or regret.

Ok.....I'm done

Thank you Sah.....

these DiD threads are like TV serials

this one is level 42, has just had a nap in Riften and is about to depart for Solitude, there this one has to find some lizard person called Gulum-Ei, at the same time this one can complete her first Special Job for Delvin after that its off to Markarth to steal a vase for Vex, by the time this one gets back to Riften this one will have done the full round of Skyrim.

Sir Rick has 2 more NEW videos being uploaded, will post them tomorrow :D .............all of Honey Brew (2 parts)

this one thinks that the max this one can get with levels is 45, this one is using the Thief Stone again to try to maximize skill trees for perks, has only one spare perk saving it for light armor.

sah.... look forward to seeing the vids :thanks:

um......just stating the obvious.....but levels don't get a score in this Round......so killing yourself over an extra one is not necessary. Well, except for the personal challenge of 'Maximum Completion' of course.

Ulda is just leaving Markarth for Solitude to also do that quest.

Ulda will be lucky to survive it

Where does it go? Where was it before it started? Where was it when it was happening?

And who are all these people, anyway?

Everything lies beyond it, including "death's dark door." And ahead of it, as well. :D

From the last thread.

Neil said:

It's called imagination. Takes a lot of that to play on console.

P.S. Love the Green Acres reference. Watched that all the time as a kid. In the opening song, he'd sing "clean air," and she would say "town square" and I always wanted to live on a farm. Then my family actually moved to one when I was ten.

Thanks Neil. Maybe I will fast travel to Riften so I can complete the two quests I've already done and just need to turn in and then retire the character in the flagon. I don't have much time to play between now and the end anyway. I was hoping to put in a good three hours yesterday and make some progress and it started off great, but then the game started crashing and I spent more time rebooting than playing.

I had been hoping to play this character even after the competition ended, but I don't think I will now.

Rick said:

Interesting that I am not the only Xbox player who experiences these Burmuda triangle events. This is the second one I have encountered. The first one was between Riften and Iverstead, and I eventually made it around. Then I found another one between Markarth and Whiterun. And like you said, the boundaries seem to shift. It is really odd.
