What does it mean if my game keeps freezing up.

It seems like almost every week , I fix one issue, only to end up with another when it comes to skyrim, lolz.

Anyways, I recently improved my game giving me double the frames per second (now i can get up to 22 fps). By utlizing a INI cleaner/sorter created by the folks who make S.T.E.P. And I am using Medium graphics with Antialising off, and the AA thingy turned off as well. And no water reflection options.

But now I am experiencing game freezes and locks up. My mod list has started to exceed the 200 mark.

My game does meet minimum and recommended settings, but for those who are curious here's my specs again..

1 VRAM (ATI Radeon HD 5450) + a Integrated 512 graphics card (disabled)

3 Operating Ram

Windows 7

AMD Athlon II 170 processor 2.00 GHZ

I could give a list of the mods I use, but i think thats really not a problem ( with emphasis on I think). Unless its a bunch of scripts causing my issue. I have thought about trying to make a bashed patch (but that seems an imtimidating proposition, considering i have never used it before).

What does it mean? It means you have a mod issue. Likely nothing to to with Skyrim itself.

Honestly your system is choking. You're completely overdoing it.

That is a very low end card. It could probably barely play SKyrim alone let alone with 200 mods.

Hopefully you aren't using enb series or high res texture mods.

What OS do you have? 32-bit or 64-bit?

Just going to wipe it all clean and start fresh again, and this time.. going to install it on my F drive, instead of my c drive.

I had the thought that the Changes to the INI files, might be making my game uninstable.

12 Frames OUCH. How can you play like that.

Just because you meet the minimum requirements doesn't mean you will have the best experience. Not on a system with hardware like that. You are having a crappy experience because you have 200+ mods installed.

Your system just isn't up to the task. Meeting minimum requirements means you can play Skyrim on low-medium settings on a resolution that isn't too high. It's playable at least. Not going to be the best experience. The best thing to do in the future is do some research on what game you are thinking of playing and the system you have. Don't just go on system requirements. They are too vague to really gauge how well a game will play on your system. Your GPU is barely entry level. I wouldn't even try to play SKyrim on medium settings. Try low settings with 1280 resolution or something like that. Tweak from there.

The majority of mods do NOT increase performance. They will either not affect performance much or will decrease performance.

There are mods and ini tweaks that can help with performance. They can't make up for a very low end system however.

Heavy modding in SKyrim is for mid-high end systems. You can mod some. Nothing too crazy though. Im thinking like item mods maybe.

Which mods are in use right now.

What settings did you enable in the graphics options.

Try turning off AA and such if it is running. Try playing the game at a lower resolution and see if it improves. Maybe you need to set it to Low settings.

I hope you are not using the Official HD DLC since your system is not designed to run with it.

SKSE, RaceMenu, Onetweak, SkyUI, and Total Character make over. Um. I don't know if i do have the HD Textures or not...

I could look for the low rez texture pack and get those installed just in case.

Well I am not using the HD Textures, I am using low-rez. (Averagring between 16-22 fps in exteriors)

I have never heard of the Total Makeover mod do. Does it lower the details or enhance them. Try without the Racemenu mod.

What is the resolution you are using setting it 1280/720 or even lower might enhance the FPS to something that is playable. I do not know if the game can be played at 800/600 mode.

You could also try playing in windowed mode that might help with performance as well.

What does low settings do? After you removed local content did you manually delete the SKyrim directory? Are you DL'ing from Nexus or Steam Workshop?

Also try what Erz suggested with lower resolution.

It's a miracle you can get those frames with that CPU. The AMD Athlon II 170u is a single core processor actually. !!!

I have modified my game & computer settings in every way, screen size, playing in windowed mode, lowered monitor resolution, etc. Im pretty sure this is as good as it gets for me without needing a new computer all together. lol

Ive gotten my load order to about 70 mods now though. As long as I don't go with a mesh body, like CBBE and stuff, I don't need to download anything else. xD
