Should they release a demo?

Post » Sun May 23, 2010 2:21 am

I would rather they never release a demo. Making a demo takes a lot of time, effort, and money. Resources they could use to make the final game even better. So which would you rather they do spend four months on a demo for just a taste of epic or wait a little longer for a cake full of epic roped with awesome?

No demo thanks, I think they can have a negative effect by giving the wrong impression. Like if they are released before the game is, and aren't patched etc.

normally i like demos but since this game is a given for me anyways i honestly would rather not have it. first off i want a brand new experience and nothing would be more annoying than to find out that i love the game only to have the demo end 20 minutes later. second demos are usually rough drafts and they sometimes change stuff up.

dark messiah actually had a good demo cause they took different sections fo the game and put them together in random order. when i actually played the game i was surprised at the change in order of levels. despite the bugginess of the demo ti was actually kind of well executed.

I remember Todd saying (perhaps on Major Nelsons podcast, I don't remember) that the kinds of games they are making doesn't demo well, and that they would never do one. The question was why there was no demo for Fallout 3. I must say I agree. You can't sample the kind of game experience that Fallout and The Elder Scrolls is.

No demo. But I'd love to see the framework of a Construction Set, to figure out things like file formats and the language needed to construct a quest. Modders would likely agree that there's no such thing as getting one too early.

the ones who still haven't tried any TES games are the ones who do.

There is someone who has not played an Elder Scrolls game?

I wouldn't mind playing it, but they most likely won't since most RPG's don't get demos and Bethesda Game Studios has never made a demo for any of their games.

I don't think it's needed. I certainly don't need the demo, I know i'm getting it no matter what. It would just be a waste of developement time imo.

I feel the same way actually :P not because of the waste of time but because it would be too frustating to play a bit of TES V and then...CONTINUES AT 11.11.11...

The demo should be about 20 hours long! This way you can really test it out.....

I think you were joking, but that will happen when Hell freezes over.

The point of having a Character Generator out before the game is that we can put a lot of effort into our first character. If we wait for the game, I won't have time to make what I want for, well, obvious reasons ;)
