As the title says, 100% of the time when I click 'E' to enter Saarthal after meeting Tolfdir there the game crashes to desktop without ever seeing a load screen. And many times when reloading the nearest save game (where I am inches away from the Saarthal door) the game will CTD again part way through the load screen. I have run LOOT, TESV, save script cleaner, used Steam to verify game cache (as I have had CTD in other areas as well).

Aside from Saarthal, i get CTD at random times approaching NPCs out in the world (away from towns and such), and going through doors that lead to instanced areas. But I can't even do the Mage College quest line because Saarthal just will not let me in, can anybody help?

Try this:

Disable all your uncheck all mods and load a game. See if the CTD issue returns. DO NOT make any new saves while doing this and don't load autosaves.

If the CTD issue goes away, try rechecking your mods a few at a time. So enable maybe half and try the game again. Again load a save but don't overwrite any saves and dont load autosaves.

This includes quicksave. Keep rechecking mods and repeat until the issue returns. If you find the mod post back here.

It is generally never a good idea to overwrite a modded save if you uncheck mods as it can mess up your game. This is just for troubleshooting purposes.

Thanks for the reply, jasper1979. I am trying out what you suggested now and it is taking quite a while, and making little sense. Got everything to work when (after unchecking half my list, 1-2 mods at a time) I unchecked Immersive Patrols and Inigo. I was able to wait for an hour in game (creating an autosave, and allowing Tolfdir to show up), create a new save, and even get into Saarthal with no problem. But when unchecking half my list my followers lost their armor, which svcks because they had some great armor and they can't just go into a new dungeon naked now can they.

When I recheck all my mods, except Immersive Patrols and Inigo, I can still get into Saarthal from the new save. But, as stated previously, my followers have no armor - so I want to go back to my old save where they had armor. When I do I crash upon entering Saarthal again (but I can save game, quick travel, etc.).

Should I just deal with losing my cool mod armor and go on without Inigo (as Immersive Patrols works when rechecked on my new save)? Or does anyone have ideas about this Saarthal crash?
